Goooooood morning America! Got to work on the return side of the fuel lines.....i like the way the color matches my other hoses, son hates it, says heater hoses should be black

Waiting on an additional 10 feet of proclassic hose from Jegs(email gift certificate from one of my sons), 8" of snow seemes to have held up delivery

Yeah Dale, i couldnt believe it happened either, but it did fly off at sub sonic speed, damage couldve been much worse, if it had been aimed at my eye....

Yeah, i know my frame rails are rusty, but that will be addressed another day......

I may notch the power steering pump bracket, to allow the hose to have less of a kink

Next project, build bracket to mount relay for ECU......FAST says i can load a blank program, so on star can shut my truck down in the event that it is tolen

Nice work as always Jim.
“So on star can shut my truck down in the event that it is stolen”
I like this idea. I wonder if anyone makes a plug in system that shuts the ECM down remotely with a cell phone or App.? I don’t need to subscribe to anything else that requires monthly installments but I would like to be able to disable my truck to deter thieves. These things aren’t very difficult to start without a key.

Hey, i am far from any kinda techno wiz, so youre asking the wrong guy:lol:.....but, i have a extra relay i could use for that function. Yeah i know services cost money, but it has saved me from getting lost more then once, even allowed me to pay the bill over the phone when the wifey forgot. Just gotta buy the system, and see how i can mout it up. Since i dont have air, the area above the radio looks like a prime spot
If you hear of any apps, let me know....my smart phone is smarter then me!

Got the last ten feet of fuel hose, so i will be finishing up that shortly.....

Your truck looks amazing, great work. You Michigan guys really have the nack, really like where you put the heater switches

Re: PO has me PO'd

Had a couple minutes to work on the fuel lines.....make sure you keep an eye at a certain point on the braid, as you tighten the nut. This will tell you if the fuel line is being pushed out by the clamping barrel. I add a light oil( 3in1) to the threads and cone to help with assembly. What seems to work for me.....holding and pushing the hose, put the barrel against the leading edge of your wooden workbench, using a rachet wrench rotate the barrel counter clockwise untill it seats against the inside shoulder

Still have to build a separator for the two hoses to keep it off of the power steering tank

Also, found an app to remote start wifeys Malibu

I think on star can track the car and tell where it is to safely shut it down, my luck, i would shut it down in the middle of a four lane highway, and cause a ten car pile up, and be sued ten ways to heaven

Dont know a name, just went to my app store, typed in on star and came up with a free app on my phone. Problem is it only works on a 2013 malibu, so i have to buy her a new car, so much for 'free'

Thanks, that makes me feel better. Tomorrow should be 50, so ill get to install my new rack(wifeys christmas present) on the dual sport

Really, you bought a jeepster.....

That duel sport looks like a ton of fun! I am bikeless at the moment but will never let my MC endorsement expire. You never know when the right opportunity may find you. The last duel sport I had was a mid ‘90s xr600 probably better than ten years ago. The jeepster is way, way on the back burner but I am really looking forward to working on it. My new year’s resolution was to not buy any more projects.

Yeah, the bike is a blast on back country roads, finally gettin comfortable on it and pushin it. I want to chop the rear fender and put a LED light kit on the rear. Makes it look more like a dirt bike....

600 ccs mustve been fun, i only have 400, and thats enuff for me. Although, a turbo kit is not out of the question

You can always call the jeepster an investment and not a project, so as to keep your resolution intact:lol:

Sheesh! just went pink

Re: PO has me PO'd

Mornings progress: had some time to work on the fuel pump extension rods, i need roughly 13 1/2" from mounting flange on pump to the bottom of fuel tank. I used some 3/8" hard copper to get the height, spacer is between the lower part of the pump and spring

I like to use a old fitting in vise, so as not to damage a fitting im using. Make sure to leave enough tubing to swing your mini cutter around past the siphon tube

Now, i just have to extend the pump harness

Second pic is the delphi 1.50 and 1.0 connectors that i got from Waytec to make my harness

jaros44sr 01-17-2014 01:28 PM

Re: PO has me PO'd

I used a 'D' crimp on the uninsulated part of the connecter and a 'C' crimp on the insulation part of the wire. Your sizes may vary depending on your crimper

I start with one size larger to get a pre crimp, just to make sure everything looks right

Finished up fuel pump, the wire dividers (blue and grey) can be a little fiddly ( sorry, must be to much wheeler/dealers) but, can be done without breaking

Alittle more work on the rails

Now, just to run green wire back to relay, and black to ground

Why thank you Pete, very kind of you to say, just trying to keep up with all the very talented guys on this forum......thanks for watchin'. I like to read the other builds to get my plans, sorry to say, but then i steal them:lol:

Working a nut plate, to mount my filler neck to tank

Gotta say this forum is a very cool place to hang out, nice guys! Nice trucks you have Pete, gotta love that blazer

Re: PO has me PO'd

Well, the men from Michigan have been very generous indeed.....sent 10" this time, but it does give me time to work on the nutplate

Re: PO has me PO'd

Got the nutplate finished, waiting on 6/32" ss bolts, not much room for anything larger. Had to counter bore plate (about .075 ) to allow for stud head welded to the tank, then used 10/32" setscrews to keep the plate from moving around
Now i can use the old filler neck to drill holes in the tank

Just wanted to be able to drop the tank easily when it comes time to change out fuel pump

Rubber gasket is next to make, between filler neck and tank

Re: PO has me PO'd

Filler neck fitted up to tank, may require small amount of dimpling where it goes over frame.....ordered 1 3/8" soft rubber hose from filler neck supply co.(can bend 90 degrees in 11.5")

Now i can work on the vent that i got from tanks inc. and that should be the end of my tank mod.
