Re: Daverods project 66
I had something on the lift, so I took the cab off like this. It was easy.

Nice. I don't have the kinda room you have. How did you jack it up? I don't want to mess up my paint ether. I like the hoist thing. I just made the thing out of wood.

Re: Daverods project 66
I jacked it up with a jack, and some wood blocks.

Re: Daverods project 66
You can get any look. Different woods, colors, ect. Best thing is it finished no sanding and sanding and sanding and finishing. Just bang it down and its done. Cost 2.65 a square. Got it at lumber liquidators?

Re: Daverods project 66
Not bad. I'm looking at a engineered red oak for 1.39 sqf

Re: Daverods project 66
The only wood I would talk about is the kick stand that keeps me from rolling over in bed. Now get back to working on your truck. :haha:

It's already prefinished. I've never done a wood floor before but I got buddy's that have.
Now get back to working on your truck. |

Re: Daverods project 66
Nice idea, but how will it level out when you lift it? Looks like it will slide off. :uhmk:
|
Re: Daverods project 66
a little extra wood to hold it in its spot in the door openings should fix that , make sure theres an extra (heavy )person nearby ready to jump on the back of the engine hoist cause it will want to dip forward when you roll it under the chassis
|
Re: Daverods project 66
I don't see a problem with the cherry picker tipping if the arm is adjusted right.
|
Re: Daverods project 66
For a straight up dead lift no problem. Where the problem comes in is trying to roll the cab / hoist around with the hoist extended out that far.
I state this from my numerous experiences of moving my stepside bed around using my engine hoist, by myself. If you have some people that can help it's always better to utilize them to stabilize the cab and help with positioning. |
Re: Daverods project 66
It did want to tip the first time I tried it. I had the hoist to far away from the truck after I moved it closer maybe 6" away I worked fine.:metal: Did'nt damage anything. Now I need to pull my 350 trans put my torque convertor on reinstall and put my cab on the frame. Anything I need to know about putting the torque convertor on?:uhmk: Fill it with dex3.

Re: Daverods project 66
make sure you can pass the tires with the crane before trying to put on the cab sumtimes the crane bumps the outside front tire , so you need to take it off and put that side on a jack
