Re: My Facetruck thread.

well, it was sanding and sealing this weekend, all went fairly smooth ;)

wish the beers lasted as long as the sandpaper

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/v7asrc6t0xv...14826.jpg?dl=0

just clear sealer but really made the grain pop, and shows a little character

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/3eurz1bzzsk..._1579.jpg?dl=0

had enough to complete second coat on the finished side, I'll have to get more sealer for the frame side..

I think we're going refinish our picnic table so we'll use up another gallon easy

and there's still a third gate behind the garage I'll have to replace to match these

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/zso4owa5rpy...15227.jpg?dl=0

went ahead and replaced the side gate pickets, they were too short after we added an extra course of block

came home from work and found this trackhoe on the table

my son built it from my 70's era expert builder sets and a 1980 idea book, it was not sold as a kit

now if he could just build me one I could use on the farm... and Larry's grandson could operate it for us

Almost all of us old timers here have roots in TN and KY. What was grandpa's last name?

I went through Blue Eye, Arkansas once. Strange configuration for a town. Two huge tractor tire shops and a gas station. Beautiful country. In my next life I'm living in Arkansas. It reminds me of the North Carolina of my youth before, well never mind.

Blue Eye is an interesting town because it's sitting on the Missouri, Arkansas state line. I was born and live about 25 miles southeast of there.

Had a funeral last week for my 86 yo dad. He’s with Jesus now. 3 weeks before he died, l told him we wouldn’t need a hurst to take his casket from the church to the cemetery. He asked why and I said “We’re going to use the Hoopie.” He just laughed and said “Whatever!” He built this contraption in 1955 to use around the farm (think early gator) and later used it give the grandkids rides. The original (with my cousin pictured) was a early 30’s Ford chassis. About 15 years ago we converted it to a 1971 1/2 ton Chevy chassis. Lots of good memories

That's just wonderful through and through.

My condolences to you and your family on your dad's passing on.

That's a neat little buggy idea he came up with... long before JD got the idea for a Gator. How old were you when you first drove the hoopie?

A skunk got in my shop. I caught him in a live trap and safely released him yesterday. I slid the Trap over the end of an 8-in PVC pipe as I opened the door.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

What do you do, cover the trap while you carry it? I had a skunk problem here and I think I recall that was what was recommended. I didn't deal with it, luckily they went away. Yes, they. They were under my screen house. One evening I saw movement and went closer to look as they went under. What, there's two? Wait, WTH? One, two, and three little ones following. How do you catch 5 skunks w/o getting bombed? I'm just glad they moved on

I put the trap in a 55 gallon trash bag. The skunk tore the bag off the back of the trap. I just eased up to the door end with a blanket and laid it over the whole thing. I didn't make any sudden movements and loaded him in the bed of my truck and drove him to our pipe yard. I put the trap up to the end of an 8" schedule 40 pipe, opened trap door and slid the end of the trap over the end of the pipe. I didn't wait around to see how long he stayed in the trap and pipe.
