Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Test fit the wipers at dusk last evening... Still a minor tweaking needed. :o
In this position, about an inch or so of the blades are resting on the Windshield molding, so a bit of a bend, or pie cut and re-weld, needed to get the proper angle...:uhmk: https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/648/31...20d04323_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr The back side of the wiper switch disintigrated during the re-installation, so another switch will be fitted now that the wipers are near serviceable... And the blower motor isn't coming on with the switch, I bench tested the blower motor and it spun when power was applied... but with the OE switch and wiring in place, nothing...:banghead: Have I mentioned how I detest electrical issues??? On top of those items, I now need to change the track bar, to an adjustable one, seems the lowering springs dropped the rear enough to cause the OE bar to bind causing one side of the frame to ride higher than the other...:sumo: Although this was semi-expected I also hoped I could get away with using the stock bar...NOPE!!! Just more Old Truck Modifying fun!!! :metal: Till next time...:truck: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Just think Don , myself and Rian both had our adjustable track bars sent to yours the other year we ordered from POL . But It wouldn't be hard to cut one and weld in some threaded bar to make an adjustable one

Good to see you are still hard at it. All our Oreilly managers are in St Louis this week for meetings and I'm guessing thats why you were put in charge of your store. Or could this be a promotion about to happen? Theres usually not enough knowledge behind the counter so I bet your customers are happy to have you helping them.
Stay busy buddy... |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Thanks for checking in guys... Clem, you called it... Managers are all in St.Louis for annual conference. I'm training for and filling Asst. Manager position, plus this is week before annual inventory...:banghead: Busy starts to describe... Thanks Rian for replying to TJ...:mm:
Also having Tax time fun, crunching tattoo studio numbers for accountant, Fun, Fun, Fun... just like smashing same thumb twice hammering in a nail... TJ... Hey Brotha, will try to call later today or tomorrow...;) Finally... One of my customers brought by this sweet '53 sitting on a S10 frame sporting a 4.8L LS...:metal::metal::metal: Hey Clem, this is the truck that started the ball rolling for another guy, who was the reason behind my call to you... https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/258/32...3da9981f_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2279/3...a387231c_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2203/3...7697beb7_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr |

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Small update for today... ;)
After getting the truck road-worthy and finally getting the wiper arm mods done, when I turned the wiper switch... Nothing...:dohh: So when I went to pull the wire off the back to determine power availability the whole terminal came with the wire... So today I pulled the OEM switch and replaced it with a push-pull switch... Ran one side to ground and the wiper power wire to the other and BOOOM! I now have wipers....:uhmk: Here's a pic of the old switch... https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3706/3...f86f8f8d_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Small back story on the '53... It was originally purchased by the owner's dad as a farm truck... Model 3600... :mm: Keeping it in the family, He's already turned down cash offers since getting it in the road a month ago... ;)

Car Show Season is upon us Brothers and Sisters! :metal:
I worked this past Monday (Usual days off are Sundays and Mondays) in order to attend the first local show of the season...:uhmk: Then my wife decided I needed a couple more days off for some needed time to accomplish Honey-dooz...;) so Saturday began a stretch of 5 days off... I drove the Stepper and had a relaxing Saturday hanging with like minded folks, some old friends and a few new ones as well... Here's the Stepper upon arrival... https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3933/3...e0f4dd2c_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2944/3...34309d11_c.jpgUntitled by Donald Olivo, on Flickr This sweet bagged '65 belongs to Zach, a fellow member here and on a FB group here in Arkansas...
