Not reading the original post, I would say probably having the cab and radiator support in place. That will let you place it front to back so you do not hit the firewall (or know where to modify) and check radiator clearance. Side to side depends on header configuration and clearance to steering stuff. Up and down, upper clearance is usually not a problem except where the bellhousing hits the firewall/floorpan. Lower depends on pan location. Set the intake manifold carb mount level with the frame, that puts the engine/trans back down about 3-4 degrees.

The frame has alignment holes left over from original construction on the line. I think the rails were set in to a pinned jig, then the crossmembers placed and riveted. Frame shops use the same holes for straightening. Make sure your frame is square (they do move) then pick two points on each side (shackle rivet, body mount hole center, alignment hole) and use that for reference. I would use a block similar to yours to check before final welding.

I got my windshield wipers all mounted back up with the new electric motor from brothers. Also got the tailgate mounted with the Mar-k trunions, hidden hinges and almost have the latches in.

I did a little rust repair on the passenger side rocker panel. I was able to do a little recycling in that the patch came from the drivers side rocker panel. The driver side had both ends pretty much gone, but the lower middle was in good shape.

Nice repair! How do you like those panel clamps? I find the gap a bit too big.

They work well. What i do is fit the panel tight and mark where the clamps go, then i open that spot up a little more. If the seam is ever too tight i run my body saw blade between tacks to get a little gap.

Another note about the clamps. Keep an eye on the the alignment. the clamps are not always made square.

As the clamp on the right.

Some came from Eastwood some from Harbor Frieght. Quality is about the same, big difference is the price.
