They would really need to be really well compacted, which would pulverize the plastic laid under to block moisture, plus other concerns. I've decided to go ahead and cut the score line, break up and remove the ugly edge of slab, get remaining butts of the cut posts removed, and pour the fill-in slab. That is my next goal, getting that poured so it can cure a good while

Wow, I guess I've never seen Kenny Bernstein without his fire suit before. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised...

My town seems to be on a mission. Speed enforcement on steroids. They did recently purchase a number of new Tahoes...

I drive hell bent for leather on the highways but, tend to hold close to the limits on city streets. The local streets are saturated with mindless drivers.

Those Traegers sound awesome and mostly convenient. I guess I should feel proud to say I have no use for one. I prefer actual charcoal, the real thing, and have no problem managing using it in it's various uses. I'm not knocking anyone else. Just glad I'm good without one.

I think that Bud poster is from the '90s. I don't know her name but it ain't Kenny, I guarantee

My town, which I live 5 miles from, has in recent years established a town police force. We used to be on the Resident (State) Trooper program which I liked much more. Now we have small town cops in a town with no crime looking to justify the much higher budget. It seems we have three on duty at a time. I'll see three cruisers (highly equipped Explorers) on a simple traffic stop. Probably a speeding violation. They seem very aggressive and gung-ho. I always obey the speed limit in a town, always have. I'm pretty good on country roads and interstates as well

Took delivery of our new living room furniture today and did some rearranging. There is a balance between truck parts and house parts that I don’t want to upset.

Yep, now the self-duplicating monster attack has gotten into this thread. Time to start double checking after I post. In the Facetruck thread I've been doing that a long time

I'm going to do it nice", a step beyond. There's an added something to the form and function balance thing when added beauty to the form takes nothing away from the function, or even adds to it. I think this is why I like antiques so much. The craftsmanship went far beyond function much more than what I see today. The time vs money ratio thing leaned more in favor of time back in the day. I love the embossing on old cast iron, for instance. Look at that compared to what is made today and you think, "They didn't even have to do that", or "How could they do all that and still make money?". They could and they did.

Well said Tim.

I moved some more stuff in today. Trying to get the new place in order. Guess what? No power, and the washer flooded the laundry room. As if moving wasn't bad enough, now the electric company is digging up my yard and I need a plumber. :dohh: Oh the joys of home ownership.

I think it's time for a beer. Yup..Pretty sure it is.

special-K 02-18-2022 07:54 AM

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Did the beer store have the brand you wanted? I HATE when that happens!!

You need a plumber? Did the washer flood because of a clogged drain or does the water supply leak? It isn't a problem with the fill valve in the washer? That's what I've had flooding problems from.

Power company digging you up? Wow, what a double whammy. It's unusual to have an underground service go bad. It sure wasn't the wind that did it.

Started to pick up the Ash trees the power company had felled the other day . Picked up two of the 10 or so trees on the side of my road. Free heat is always a good thing

Oh man, it's like you're living in Fort Knox. All that wood is just like money in the bank. :chevy:

Working your ash off! It's decent wood and certainly dead ash is abundant these days. I hand split my firewood and that stuff will bounce a maul off of it sooner than split when green. I had a pile I had given up on until I could get a borrowed splitter over here, which never happened the past couple years. This winter I went out and threw the maul to it once again and it split like poplar. Eezy peezy!

Lots of dead ash the Timberwoof has no problem splitting it. It's a good firewood as it's very dry even when green doesn't take long to season

I’m building myself an iron and redwood RV gate. The top two curved pieces I made the curves the hard way. I call it “death by a thousand cuts”.

I like that. Yes, nice work. I always wondered if that could work. I have made a 2 x 6 tube winch bumper with two bends at the frame ends by making a pie cut at each place, cinder block in center, and come-along attached to each end. I want to make a bowed one and now I'll try your method

That's one big-ass gate! My biggest gate here in housing-tract-land is just shy of 5 feet across. I welded up 1-1/2" angle iron and used 2" X 6" con heart redwood for the wood. I'm hoping that they outlive me. They're certainly sturdier than the 5/8" X 6" cedar pickets I used 15 years ago.
