Re: Project Vitamin C-10
That's a good idea. I wonder how it would work out doing it to a step side. I really don't like the idea of putting the gas fill in the bed. Stay tuned. My work load might ease up, and I'll start working on the truck again.

Here's another attempt at doing the line from the pump to the carb. I made some mistakes, but got it done. I might redo it to clean it up a little. Split the new pump apart to rotate the outlet. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02106.jpg Fittings installed. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02109.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02114.jpg I used a coat hanger for a template. I don't know how to accurately figure the radius of the bend. I made a bend in scrap and cut it off to help figure the bend. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02116.jpg Here is the bend lined up with the coathanger. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02117.jpg Done. I just hand bent the line off the carb to clear the heater hose outlet. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02119.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02120.jpg |

Great detail pictures on the bendy routine, Alan. Just outstanding. Mac. :mm: |

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Alan,
is that stainless line? did you flare you own ends? i attempted this as well but could not find the proper connections, so i still have rubber to connect the line to the fittings. can you share the sizes, parts #, and vendor when you have some free time. It looks 100% better the way you ran it. keep up the great work. |

Thanks Scott, someday I will get it. It took too much time to bed that little line. Quote:
These fittings are 3/8"NPT-6AN http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02071.jpg Not a good pic of the -6AN line nuts and sleeves, but I will get them for you. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02000.jpg |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
It took me all day to bend my fuel line from the pump to carb. I think i will redo it before i put the new motor in, i want to have a fuel psi guage near the carb. Great progress Alan.

Here is a pic of the flare tool. It worked like a dream on stainless. No marks or slippage. No wrenches required. They run around $100. The 45* PN is 458R and the 37* PN is 377 Here is a link to Rigid.com. Thanks Shannon for the info. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/IMG_0813.jpg Here is the other tubing nuts and sleeves. Jegs PN's http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...k/DSC02123.jpg |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
no progress here, Engine guy fell thur saturday! He is suppose to deliver it this week to work. SO, if he brings it i will post some pics. If not, i will just by the new carb and pickup the air compressor from Lowes i have been eyeing. Its one of those husy uprights. 12 cfm dual pumps should be able to paint a little with it.
Did u get a buyer on the buick? |

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Yesterday the wife called and said I had a big box that came Fed-ex. Of coarse the excitement set in. Until I got home and discovered I got 67-72 wheel tubs. I knew this was gonna be a problem. I tried to head it off at the pass.
Here is the page at the truckandcarshop.com. Look at PN 60-09309 60-66 rear inner wheel housing Fleetside Lt/Rt $78. Now move your mouse over it and it says 67-72. If you add it to the shopping cart the price changes to $63 and says 67-72. I called to question this and the lady said it will go thru just fine. Placed the order and had a special note with the order form telling them to call me to verify PN's. They didn't do that and here they are. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02125.jpg They are sending out the correct ones and picking these up. I did tell the guy there what's going on with the website. Got the other shipment today. Here are some pics, http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02130.jpg Brake lines, trans cooler lines, a few things for the 55. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02132.jpg This looks like the correct boot on the firewall behind the booster. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02133.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02135.jpg The e brake equalizer has the GM PN along with the boot above. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02134.jpg Now it's time to go to work. :metal: |

Shannon came over and help get the brake lines routed, to make sure there weren't any issues. Really didn't have any problems, just a couple minor ones. Once I got started I realized I didn't take into consideration that the 67-72 frt inner fender wheels are different than 60-66. I thought I would have some clearance issues, But there weren't any problems. For those that don't remember or haven't seen all my build. I used brake lines for a 72 since that is what I used to convert my 6 lugs to 5 lugs. I started at the master cylinder and went back. I still had the old porportioning valve from the 72 and had a fitting coming off the rear that had 2 ports on it. I can't remember how it was ran on the 72. I figured I had to use it. Long story short I eliminated it. If I'm doing something wrong please chime in. I'm going to try to find a pic of a factory 72 setup to see what's supposed to look like. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02138.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02139.jpg I'm not too happy with the front line. One straight portion has a lot of lumps in it. It looks like I bent it. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02140.jpg Need some fittings to get these tied together. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02143.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC02144.jpg I ordered some tranny cooler lines gambling that they would line up with the summit radiator. I think they are workable. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02141.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/DSC02145.jpg Gotta go thru and tighten and clamp everything down, so overall it was succesful. |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Looks good Alan.

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Alan,
What radiator did you use and where did you get it from? Also how much? |
