CRLS is back from upholstery! Posted a video on You Tube which is probably a little better than a few still shots. Lot of work left to finalize the fit and finish, but it's a really good start. Only things left at the trim shop are the floor mats which should be done first of next week.

Now where's that punch list??? ;)

Thanks for all the good words, guys! I've got the interior partly back together after disassembling it when CRLS arrived back home Friday. The big news is that the stereo and all the speakers work. I knew the head unit lit up, but never heard any noise out of the system until today. Sub, mids and tweets all amp'd up and sounding great. I could be that guy you hate to pull up next to at the stop lite going whoomp, shakalaka, whoomp... vibrating the windows in all the surrounding vehicles.

Headed out to Hy-Vee tomorrow to pick up 10 gallons of premium to prime and test the fuel system. I still have to paint the intake tube, then install it, the MAF sensor and air filter. but it's getting down to where the only thing between me and starting the engine is fear and thin air (and a few other items on the punch list). ;)

Soon I hope, Duane. I haven't had any weather to paint the intake tube, so I may have to do like you did and paint it later just so I can finally bust off the engine.

They should be around the second week of September, Dan. Haven't heard the exact dates yet.

The interior is all back together after installing the speakers, seat belts and steering wheel. Waiting on a call from the anodizer for it to be 100% done. Horn button decided not to work, so I had to disassemble it and give it a tune up. Should make it thru the safety inspection but after that I don't care. Can't remember the last time I honked the horn. I always figure if you have time to reach for the horn, you have time to avoid the situation. Also got the Lukas HD camera, rearview mirror and VOD microphone installed. Gas is in the tank, but still haven't tested the line and pressure... maybe tomorrow. ;)

BTW, John Sanborn, if you're lurking... thanks again for that nifty windshield wiper arm tool. Used it today and it worked great. Probably the first time I've ever installed them without dinging the paint on the cowl. :metal:

Thanks, Big, never too late to join the party. ;) We've made the All Truck Nats in Riverside, MO for the last seven years. Plus cruise-ins and road trips. Hope to see you somewhere along the line. (At 6'6" you're probably hard to miss.)

So, I ran into a problem acquiring seat belt guide bezels for both side covers. They come with the seat belt assembly and it appears that pickers remove the retaining nut from the belt mount and yank the bezel out with the belt. Most of the seats you see for sale on eBay are missing those pieces. GM only sells them as part of the belt assembly. Lowest price new I found was around $105... each. My local Pick N Pull had nothing that new and the late model yard wants $67 each. It's possible that if I went there in person and explained I only want the small plastic bezel, they might have something that would be otherwise unsellable, but rather than slog thru the mud and the blood and the beer, I machined a pair from 1/8" aluminum plate. Will paint or powder coat them and use a small trim screw to hold them in the recess. And Bob's your uncle.

Well, I've encountered somewhat of a setback. Woke up about 3AM to the faint smell of 91 octane. Went downstairs to the shop and the fumes were stronger there. After a little detective work, I found a couple of small drips off the front edge of the tank. No puddles or anything, but still a problem. Went back to bed thinking I probably had a pinhole in one of the welds on the Boyd tank. My reasoning was that I had only put 12 gallons into a 19 gallon tank so it couldn't be from anything on top. Plus, I hadn't run the pump to purge and test the line integrity yet.

This morning I jacked the rear of the truck up for a closer look and found that, in fact, the leak is coming from around the submersible pump gasket. How that is possible I don't really know but the miserable truth is that I have to pull the bed back off the truck to fix the leak. Barely room to position the camera up there as it is. Tried looking with a light and inspection mirror, but was unable to get any decent access. Certainly no way to fit hands and tools up there to attempt to tighten the screws around the perimeter of the cover. Stay tuned....

Hmm I wonder if it will require some sort of special tightening sequence and torque wrench to get the right amount of pressure on each screw.
It also probably wouldn't hurt to replace those screws with Allen bolts and get a flat washer and spring washer for each screw to resist vibrational loosening.

Leak is definitely the gasket around the pump. Still not sure how 12 gallons in a 19 gallon tank can create this problem...

That's really odd isn't it? Kinda counter intuitive if you ask me. I can see this happening if the tank is completely full and the fluid is up against the gasket. Wonder if it would be worth calling Boyd's to see what they have to say.
