Completed the bed wood kit for my '65 Fleetside (oak). I sanded them with 100, then 220, then five coats of Minwax Helmsman (sanding between coats with 220). Then I water sanded them with 1500, then 2500 and then buffed them out. They look awesome...if I must say so myself. Pictures to follow.

Picked up the seat from the shop this morning, The small lines/wrinkles at the top will fade out after she been used a bit.

I'll post some pictures of the new 'bolter on the seat later.

The tan seat was the '39 DeSota he's finishing up, SWEET.

That seat turned out beautiful. Your grandson seems a bit confused by it though! Always loved the 39 Dodge and DeSoto body style. Real art deco. From what can be seen it looks fantastic.

Tore the steering column apart on my 63, welded up the inner shaft (deep grooves from no bearings in the column) then sand blasted the outer shell and repainted it satin black. Now searching for a steering wheel. :metal:

Reinstalled my rear bumper and mounted up my new carb. I still have to tune it for a/f and idle, that will be tomorrow morning. Im also going to get the bench out of a 69 GMC tomorrow and installing it. The seat will be free, Im selling my buckets in my truck for $20 which is what the bench costs. I also need to rewire my tail lights

Lakeroadster I like the Camero dash and hood scoops. Are you putting a wood cap on the dash or a padding strip? It will look cool either way...Vernski

Thanks Vernski. The plan is to make a wooden cap that screws to the dash and then put vinyl over the wood. This makes a dash pad that looks similar to factory ones that were used.

Had ordered a new top end kit to install. Was going to do most of it in with the eingine in the truck. My Dad came over to help.

Well, ended up pulling the front clip, and the motor, and am in the process of installing a new top end kit....

Clean/paint engine and front frame rails....

oh, and have to have it done by Tuesday afternoon when my wife gets back.....

so I have a block with new cam/ getting ready to paint, then install heads, and intake, the put everything back together....:metal:

My buddy and I got to work on the disc swap this weekend, and completed it just in time for dinner last night. Wife was a little peeved, as I told her it'd be a day, day and a half tops. Oops. If it wasn't for all the runs to the parts store, I'd have made it. Got it done though, at least the front. Back discs will have to wait until I can re-drill the axles for the 5x5 pattern. The difference in braking is...amazing. You press the pedal and it just stops!! I think my truck just made it to the mid 70's in braking tecnology:lol:
The CPP kit is pretty top shelf. Had to make new lines for the front (to separate the front and back circuits) and still have to drill the firewall for another couple mount bolts, but otherwise everything was bolt-on, particularly the spindles and disc setup. Good times. Also threw in the ECE drop springs, so with the 2 1/2 drop spindles I am now at 4 1/2" total drop in the front and 4" in the back, with what I think is just the right amount of rake.

Nothing exciting like a blower install just new brakes shoes, can anybody tell me where I can get decent brake shoes, the last set I had on my truck were heat checked bad, rivited but started falling apart, this set I replaced Sunday one side linning had separated from the shoe itself, ( glued not rivited) thats what prompted this brake job was the unusual noise while stopping. First set from Napa, second set from autozone.......new set from napa again.:metal:

AC Delco shoes are usually very nice, as well as Raybestos (still American made I believe)

As for me, more cutting, grinding, welding; It never stops!:waah:

At least I have another ride for the summer :metal:

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Smacked my shin on the frame rails as I was walking through the dark shop to get to the fuse box. :cuss:

I did start soaking the bed and cab bolts in JB Parts Blaster (similar to WD-40, but seems to work a little better). Next time I can get a spare set of hands to my shop I'm gonna try and get all those bolts out. Then all I need is an engine hoist and the cab and bed will be off. :metal:
