Tried the Eastwood brake line flairing tool for the first time to make a gas line for the 68 . Worked very well just need to get a holder clamp for the line so it doesn’t vibrate to much . I tried to replicate the oem as best I could but since I added an in-line it’s not factory correct

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Nice work!
+1 for the Eastwood flaring kit. As a certified tool junkie, I don't mind paying extra for something that gives quality results and makes the job easier. |

I bought it last year at the Carlisle truck show . Blew a line from the master to the block on the crossmember . Couldn’t get a line with the same fittings . So I bought a roll and used the old nuts . I bought a cheap flairing tool at Napa but then I went to the Eastwood booth and the guy bent and flaired the line for me . After I did one double flair I bought the tool

New bumper came today did a test fit prior to painting it. The fit is ok not factory but not terrible I did have to shim the brackets to make it somewhat acceptable . Don’t like the gap on the ends to the grill but if I pull it in the bumper hits the fender on both sides . Right side fits better than the left. Pretty much the way the bumper stamped is off . Ordered it from Jegs It’s a Golden Star brand most likely a rebrand

Heater core project done. The cables got lubed and now are very smooth. Test drove, no leaks or coolant smell. New blower motor works great. Was happy with the core. Did not have to fight with the "bales" or customize in any way. ;)

Made some more progress on my bucket seat swap. Im waiting on some hog ring pliers I ordered, but got the covers onto the foam and all tied down. Also doing a little final fitment of the frames and the homemade risers to be all done with those so once I get the covers hog ringed on, they can go in for the final time.

I've wanted to get a #5 pool ball in solid Orange for a shift knob on the 4-speed SM465 in my Orange '68 C/10 Stepside... I'm just afraid someone might think it's got a 5-speed if I did. |

Thanks . Truck got a lot of attention guess because you don’t see many super low optioned trucks restored . Must have been at least 50 people commenting that they liked I kept it a I6 .

I had some epoxy paint left over from making a batch of dummy filler necks, so I painted my parking brake handle and cover, and I painted the steering column support bracket and clamp.

Started to put the 50 cal ammo box back on that was on the truck when I bought it . But decided they were to far gone they are dated 1964 second picture is the inside of the lid . So I bought a new one . Going to paint it tomorrow not sure if I should go satin black or body color . Guess I’ll just need to epoxy prime it and decide then .
I plan on adding either grip tape or texture paint so I can stand on the lid to get into the bed |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Color and shine are quite nice!
My truck is running rough again; guess I'll have to look into the throttle bores. Last time it acted like this the needle was etched, allowing fuel by. I bought a local kit instead of a Cliff Ruggles kit this time. His kit did the same thing, but it took a whole lot longer than about 9 months. I'll check it first, of course, and if I need a kit, I'll get one of his again, but with an extra float bowl gasket and needle & seat so that I'm ready for the inevitable. Now, if the shop ghost doesn't abscond with those parts before I need them... |

Spent the day pulling, stretching and cussing while pulling the covers onto the frames for my buckets. Neither my grandfather or I are upholsterer, but we are happy with the results. The former high back frames did pretty good turning into low backs.

Job I was putting off . The hood ,basically the hood is really nice except for two dents right on the leading edge . Studied it for a long time and decided the best plan of attack would be to remove the inner brace . Thought it was going to be nightmare but it came off relatively easy. Was able to work the dents out with a hammer and dolly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Well I was gonna pack my wheel bearings but instead I threw my wife’s bike and my bike in the back of the truck and drove the 68 to a beautiful spot with a 10 mile bicycle loop along the water here in South Fl. Then threw the bikes in the back and came home. So I drove the truck only and didn’t get any bearings packed! But had a great time doing it👍
