Came home from work this afternoon and did some more sanding inside my box. It as a bit rough inside so we are going to smooth and repaint as a welcome home to the new wood bed. Here is one inner bedside I am working on.

i replaced the rubber fuel lines on my truck
I used Gojo lanolin hand cleaner on all the rubber bits under my truck. I scraped about four lbs of grease sand and rocks off of my trucks frame and drivetrain. I sucked about 2 gallons of bad gas out of my trucks fuel tank |

Cleaned up the more of the grime today. This is the third time around with the scraper, p washer and gunk degreaser.
I almost feel bad about washing away the years of frame saving greasy tar like goop. Lying in the wet greasy grass too blast the underneath isn't any fun. But I did reveal a Chelsea plate on the pto. Think im Almost there MAYBE one more time around. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I ordered a factory style tach conversion for the instrument cluster, a new bezel, a door jamb switch harness, courtesy light harness, a new engine harness with HEI support built in and a new temp sending sensor. The temp gauge in my cluster has never really read the temps quite right, always reads low. I think this is because the sending unit is for a 1976 engine/truck (came with the sb400 I installed). I'm guessing 1976 gauges were calibrated differently. I hope to be buying new bucket seats soon as well.

Put some advanced safety feature in the truck. Out with the bench seat in with the power Sebring Convertible seats($50 half off sale at the junkyard). I also picked up a f-250 jumpseat off craigslist for $40 that needs to go in. I cant find a pic of the bench but oh well.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I am almost finished with my Electric Vacuum Pump install, just have to wire up the relay and test it out..... I also finished wiring up the electric power window crank switches on the modded window regulators, (I had to move the crank stub forward 3/4" forward to align with the door panel holes) since I was at it, I cleaned up the wiring and drilled the holes to pass the wiring through the hinge pillar and door, now to install some conduits, rubber or what ever works, I think the braided steel ones I made are too rigid, they walk the rubber grommets out of the holes I cut, oh well, something that won't be seen too much any way.
I also finished my Van tilt steering column the other day, and once I get my power windows in, I can finish up the weather strips/vent windows, etc.. and start driving this bad boy! Pictures to follow! Have a good one! Ben :metal: |

Just dropped off my seat to have it patched. 2006 Silverado seats, driver's side has a hole in the fabric and into the foam, he said it may be done tomorrow, I hope so!

Today the cab got insulated, next on the list is heater by-pass valves to stop the flow of heat through the blower. This pic was before all the seams were taped up. All told less than $50.

Finally had the time to diagnose my lack of horn. Connection point under horn was filthy and simply needed to be cleaned.
Dual horn setup, one horn working, one horn not working. Soaking the non-working horn in WD40 to see if that clears up the issue. Either way, got a working horn. Better than leaning out the window and yelling at bay area drivers. |

Picked up a set of these 8 lug accuride wheels yesterday from a local for less than a case of cheap beer.
I wouldn't pay any more than that for f#!d parts. They cleaned up nicely though. Even though it won't be correct(not much on the k will be) I'll spray them with some leftover 526 from my 67 build. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Horns are pretty easy to re awaken ~ you need a good battery and test light , test for continuity , if there's continuity *slowly* tighten the adjuster screw until the test light goes out then back it off -barely- until the light comes back on , mount it and test it ~ the adjuster is really sensitive , a 1/10th turn is a lot .
I always recommend using a relay in heavy current consumers like horns . The older ones , you can drill out / grind off the rivets and polish the contacts , , re assemble and adjust to suit . Remember ! : a horn will not sound correctly unless it's solidly mounted . |

Me too ! . I used to chuck 'em back in the days when new ones were cheap but I never really liked the sound of the new ones , once I began taking apart and repairing old , dead and discarded Klaxons (motorized ah-OOO-gah) , I decided why not take apart a pre war BOSCH vibrator typ horn , then I began to experiment much to the dismay of everyone else wherever I worked , my Son , Ex Wife , Brother , Neighbors , etc. , etc. because I save them by the box full and rarely does any vehicle I have , ever use the original horns..... My Base Model C/10 had the DeLuxe dual horns I stripped off some abandoned junker somewhere... It takes a gentle touch but it's worth the effort IMO . Lastly , when selecting horns , choose two horns that toot off key individually , when they both blow at the same time , they harmonize and sound musical ~ try it ~ . |

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Cancel spring wouldn't stay in place, I think a piece of the plastic broke off. Added a little jb weld to keep it in place. Tried to clean the speedo cable to get odometer working but problem must be in the trans gear. Aligned the hood a bit. Tightened the right valve cover was leaking a little in the rear.
