Re: 1968
I got to shorten the drive shaft a little. I got a company that is going to come by and pick it up this morning. About 1 1/2 inches I figured, but the drive shaft guy will measure it and let me know. George

Re: 1968
I got the driveshaft taken care of today. It will be done by the third May. The front yoke where it goes into the transmission was a little bad where the seal ride and he is going to polish that area up also. I enjoy working with people that knows what they are doing. Keep your fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong.

Re: 1968
Wait I must be confused, the guy told you he will have your driveshaft done on the 3rd of May? WHAT? The local shop here in Topeka 4x4 Land has same day service with no wait AND they only charge $80 for a shorten and ballance, take it somewhere else.

Re: 1968
Today The driveshaft guy came and delivered the drive shaft. I installed the driveshaft and it fit like a glove. So I started the truck and put three quarts of transmission fluid in the transmission. I still need one more to top it off. I added brake fluid and I was going to bleed the brakes but my neighbor was busy so I put it off until Monday. After I bleed the system I will take it to the front end shop for some attention on the front end. Then it will be ready for a test drive.

Re: 1968
I take it the cam break in went well, and the engine checks out "OK" after the rebuild?
|
Re: 1968
Hey George you can make a free Youtube account and put a folder load the engine running video into it and just post a link here, make sure the privacy setting is public.

Re: 1968
Today I started to bleed the brakes and everything was going alone great until I got to the drivers side and the wheel cly. started to leak, So I will have to pull the wheel back off and see what the hey. Everything was new so go figure. If it is can break it will. This truck is one thing after another.

Re: 1968
George it's probably just something silly that will take you a few minutes to fix, but if not just replace it and forget about it.

The plunger rod came out that's all. Got the brakes bleed and it pulled out of the shop area for the first time on it's own power. what a thrill. I got a appointment at the front end shop tomorrow at 9.00 for the front end alligment. After that it will be road ready. Here is a few pictures of the truck after a good bath.

Lookin' Good George ! Have fun with it !

Re: 1968
The pickup looks great George, I especially like the blacked out grill trim and headlight rings paired with the blacked out rims it gives it a menacing look which stands in direct contrast to all the chrome and stainless that gives it that beautiful classic look, very nice.
