Finished installing the courtesy lights. Found some pre-existing holes in the bottom of the dash so I didn't even have to drill any extra holes! Love when that happens.

Your 72 looks like mine. Mine is fairly new to me. You can see it on my build thread.

Brother, I have gone round and round just deciding what shade of black to paint these! I even checked on powder coating. Yes, I would like to have decals for these, at some point.

Right when I had decided to paint them in gloss (after painting this piece in Mar Hyde satin), I looked under my hood at all my other rusted engine parts and realized.....no matter what I do, this part will look out of place. LOL

Today I made a huge advance! Not to my truck, all I did to it was to rust treat some rusty screw holes.....but I helped the freight truck driver load up the two crates I built for the fellow member in Canada! I had to get those out of the garage so I could get the room to get back on my truck. Seeing that box truck leave caused me to almost jump for joy! :chevy:

Yuo're correct ~

It's supposed to be glossy black .

Agreed it'll look out of place for a while but that's normal in regular Service and Repair .

I still don't know if it's oil bath or paper element typ....

This the first trail fit with all the boards and bars. Looks great and with it being composite it is finished once I screw it down. I need to trim a little off some edges but that's it.

A member on here told me mine was a dry air cleaner. When I mentioned how oily it was, he explained that was due to how badly worn out the engine it came off was.

I finished installing my door glass and regulators, looks like I'm gonna be buying a new set of regulators though, seems they are very hard to operate, the passenger side more than the driver side.
First impressions of my new electric vacuum pump set up for my brakes was well worth the money I spent in setting it up.you can barely hear the pump when it's running and I never had any problems braking, whatsoever.
I still need to get an alignment, I can hear my tires squalling going into turns. But other than that, I guess I'm almost ready to graduate:metal:
Pictures to come later.
Have a great weekend!

Drilled and bolted my front 4 link brackets after cleaning and priming the mating surfaces that will get missed by powder coat so far. The No Limit stuff is really nice. I plan to finish up the upper coilover mounts as well today and get things aligned in the rear. Then it's on to the "cross" member placement and I can finish cutting out the old cross members and boxing the frame. Then I'll get it all welded up.

This was done Thursday actually. I took advantage of a calm morning and got the white sprayed on the top. I added some flattener to the paint, don't want it to look too new and shiney.

Cleaned top end parts so they are ready to go when I get my valve job back. Soaked the new polished finned aluminum front differential cover I just got in muriatic acid solution so it was a closer match to the old same type rear cover, slots, and overall condition of my '72.

I pulled the truck into the garage and started doing the 3spd on the floor to original 4spd on the floor conversion. I cut out the floor to install the high hump. I rust primered floor pans, they had some surface rust on them. I removed the old 3 speed trans. Tomorrow will be another day.

Just got home with a tailgate I found locally. Have it just sitting in there. Internal parts need to be installed but hey ..... I'll be able to haul stuff without the fear of said stuff rolling out of the bed.

Gave her a good bath today after starting her up for the first time in 12 years. She smoked a bit when I first started her up but quickly cleared up. I didn't even have to clean the points off and shes perfect. May try and put some wax on her tomorrow.

JB Weld or any other Epoxy , isn't much good for cooling system leaks , I'm keen to hear how it works here .

Seems to be a hair line crack and only leaks after I turn it off. I've seen mixed reviews online. All I will have lost is about 30 minutes of my time. Cheaper than $200. I'll update you, probably won't get it out till the weekend.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

How many pounds pressure cap are you running ? .

Always remember : the boiling point of plain water goes up for each pound of pressure so few vehicles ever need more than a 3# cap .

Many can run fine with a marginal cooling system and no pressure at all but the coolant will evaporate as you drive .

Slowly but it's a thing to think about ~ I've driven across America with klunkers that couldn't take any cooling system pressure at all without leaking .
