Wheels Day 2019

Used the Berlingo as the Blazer was stuck behind piles of wood down the driveway, and I was not going to move it all about.
Also neededto use the Berlingo to collect a windsurfer board to use as added decoration for the Blazer.

What a great day out.

Met up with Craig.

Saw loads of stuff. Took over 150 photos but won’t be posting them all up, takes forever

One of @CraigRK dogs watching him leave from the camp site to go to Wheels day.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psolc9wtj7.jpg

Board just fitted in, 100mm so spare.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps2googbap.jpg

Of course there was Swapmeet and traders stands....

First stop.

Craig bought me a non functioning (the light works) Makita Impact driver for £3.00 so if a bit of fettling gets it going, bargain.

If not, the high power battery is good, so still a great buy.

Two scale faces, one to be used for the next dummy Visible gas pump build. At 50p each, a bargain.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps8xnsty9s.jpg

Two license plates, free from a trader, smaller one for my collection as it’s an illegal plate, and the larger one headed to Russia as soon as I manage to find a modern motorcycle plate to add to it for Vladimir to put up in his garage. He sent me a modern Russian plate for my collection.

Spirit level and square from Craig’s collection to add to my tools.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pstfkg0pr8.jpg

Russia bound

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psmerjlvdt.jpg

Very smelly Meerschaum pipe was £7.00 including case, a good price.

Imp badge, given free by a trader and is for Mr Tiki to add to his badgeless Imp.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pscw2xsgix.jpg

Sally got a Hoody that pleased her no end.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psaqnnelnh.jpg

Prozac’s main job for the day, retrieve the board for the Blazer.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pspvbv9alw.jpg

Looks like it is bit (lot) too big.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

I know many of you in various parts of the world enjoy the Bootfair s when they are on during summer.

Easter Weekend.

Sunday morning I woke, like a druggie needing a fix.

Actually posted on a local FB group to ask if any Bootfair s were on locally (less than 15 miles away)

Then straight into the Berlingo.......... in case of a large item.

Loads of stuff found and bought.

Two of these for £1.00 each

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psbik4thhn.jpg

5 of these for £5.00

12.5 mm HSS bits.

Same guy sold me the Duck Oil, sanding discs and some gloves.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psz4zwlmhk.jpg

Total haul, included items for @CraigRK and Sally.

Excluding their items I spent £22.70

Including items for friends £27.70

90 Velcro Hookit 60 grit discs were £10.00
Kiddie rocker £4.00
Duck Oil £2.00
Coffee mugs 10p each
Tights £1.00/pair
Large scarf £2.00
3 soft toys £1.00 for dog
One soft toy 50p
24 inch stainless steel ruler 50p
S letter Free
Gloves 50p per pair
Damp course for Craig £1.00
10 plastic hangers (I only use that type, not for sale anymore) £1.00
Turkish bowl 50p
Glass ball 50p
Lei for Blazer 50p

A good day out, then headed home for a coffee and toast with Sally, followed by more yard and woodwork.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psfarnfglr.jpg

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psabyj8vcr.jpg

After the Bootfair Sally popped in for tea and toast before going back to work, today, Easter Monday is her last day at her current job of the last 7 years, next week she starts working as a nurse at a local (13 miles away) Hospital

Once she left, I carried on getting the wood ready from the old deck, that we are going to use for her garden, which is a sanctuary to her. She needs various beds out back and in front, edged. This treated timber will be perfect for that.

Prozac loaded.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psoc2siiyt.jpg

Stas in Siberia commented with a photo (we have WhatsApp chats daily, sharing various things) that the Berlingo looked like a Russian Cowboy builders GAZ van, seems it translates well.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psiuqwmruc.jpg

Drove over to her place, load staying where it should.

Offloading and adding some to her she’d as requested.

The rest will be done once the paving has been pressure cleaned.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psnduuzxnp.jpg

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psf0nbhmbk.jpg

She had asked for a board around the bottom edge of her shed as it is raised on a concrete pad.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psy5xwmden.jpg

Then headed home to get started on the Chevy tailgate bench build for the deck.

Thread and build here http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...building-table

Last good day of the week forecast.

Got to make it count.

Later.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

So the BBQ/Feelgood patio or deck build continued yesterday after getting Sally’s wood sorted and delivered.

As you may recall, @CraigRK and I managed to get an 80’s Chevy tailgate at the NSRA Swapmeet

Next trick is to build it into a bench that’s been in my head simpnce last year when we were doing the USA Road trip, and went shopping with Clem Johnson and Dennis in Arkansas followed by melting metal in Oklahoma at Andy Martin’s place.

ROAD TRIP LINK http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...2018-humdinger

The pieces were already collected for it then.

So very basic lay out planned.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pshnwdbdav.jpg

Then the job to remove all the closing and hinging hardware as I need to recess the tailgate into the frame of the bench backrest.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psozavlee1.jpg

The next part of the job took a lot longer than planned as the large fitting screws were all rusted solid, so various forms of force and manipulation were employed to get the rods disconnected and out.

At that point I called it an early day as my guest was soon to be headed over.

Some of the inner clips to the ally trim were missing and rusted away, so even reassembly was interesting.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pscot8xlhe.jpg

Packed up and closed shop.

Hope to have it built and in use by sunset today.

If not.......

Grizz1963 04-23-2019 02:47 PM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

All in all, I failed......

Had hoped to complete the bench by end of Monday.

But it was the right thing, to pack up early by 3pm.

Started by drawing a basic plan, not something I usually do, mostly I just cut and make it up as I go building stuff.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pswpcjgbat.jpg

I tend to lay stuff out as I go, in order to edit if needed.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pslj7hovhl.jpg

By 2pm this was where I had got.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psmvoh0psy.jpg

And by 3pm all the parts were just laid out, balanced and visually illustrated.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psjzcqqoz8.jpg

And looking like it was complete, at this point I packed it all away for another day, to do assembly.

And cut the grass,

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps4puyklew.jpg

And then a pic of Dennis’ truck, 1987 model, which is what the tailgate came from.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pschoxgwfs.jpg

Shortly after a good friend, and famed memeber of various forums, Glen Anderson arrived with his 1959 Land Rover.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psnxeahnje.jpg

After he left, I started a fire to do a BBQ for Sally who had her last shift after 7 years at her job, she starts working as a nurse in a local hospital next week, so will be unemployed for the first time in her life for a week.

Grizz1963 04-23-2019 03:41 PM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

One of Easter Monday’s jobs was to name the Blazer.

I had wanted to wait for the temperatures to go up as sticker vinyl does not like the cold.

The first job was to establish where to place the stickers.

Eventually I thought subtle, hidden in the side Stripes was ideal.

Also added a self portrait to the rear tailgate

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psnqczqvhq.jpg

On the other side, a bit of luck. And some finesse...... fitting it over the fuel filler door

Of course the secret is now out too...

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psiuhw9iii.jpg

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psj8phn25c.jpg

Happy with the result.

Hey Rian, any luck with resizing these pictures? I have a huge computer monitor and I still basically can't read your posts anymore, which I usually enjoy doing.

Trust me, it is equally frustrating for me.

On Retrorides it does not seem to be a problem.

I do not know how to resize the pics.

And if it means I have to resize every single photo I upload to Photobucket, then I will rather just stop posting altogether.

As it is, my iPhone is my only camera, and every photo I upload to Photobucket has to be individually edited, even just the slightest cropping is an edit, or else it will not upload them.

All this messing before even uploading, takes time, then my internet is real slow and some photos take like 3-5 minutes each to upload.

Once loaded, the write up, getting to links copied and pasted from Photobucket again takes time.

Followed by posting on various forums.

Take a look in this thread link, same information...... same post.

http://forum.retro-rides.org/thread/...g-bench?page=3

And it seems to be all normal sizes.

So if someone has an idea on how to fix it, please help, as I have no clue and never changed the way I uploaded stuff.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

I had the exact same issue with my photos coming out huge as yours are. Solved the issue=
When I upload from my phone I kind of do it a weird way.
I take the pic as normally would
I send the photos to my email account so that I get them on my computer.
When I send them to my computer the phone asks me if I want to send them small, medium, large or actual size... I now choose medium and can send up to 12 pics at a time to the email where I then retrieve from email and put in a file for the truck pics on the computer. I upload to photobucket straight away and then to this site. Voila.. success

I know that would work,

But to be honest......

Why peel a orange twice??

It happened once before, then reset automatically to original again

21.30 last night.

Doorbell rings.

Either someone has parked a car on it’s roof in a ditch, or Mickey next door is pissed and locked himself out.

Neither, well, it was Mickey, parcel from Russia being hand delivered.

From Vladimir who had messaged recently to say a friend of his crashed a car, would I like the front one for my collection.....?

Of course I would.

I Offered to pay postage or shipping, but he declined and said an English plate for his garage would be nice.

So I opened the very manly parcel......

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psl12t2tui.jpg

Plate, some mittens, and......

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psw5waarjj.jpg

And best of all, a bit of an honour.

One of Vladimir’s cube in a cubes that he makes on his lathe.

It’s incredibly tactile, and I sat playing with it the rest of the evening.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pspwinml2x.jpg

I am pleased to have found and been given two plates for Vladimir that are 40 years apart in issue.

A 1966 “D” plate, and a 2006 “56” plate.(Thanks to Zeberdee for the 56 plate from his GasGas trials bike.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psnfzkdxyi.jpg

Got today and tomorrow off work, but loads of yard work.

Weather forecast sucks.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Funny how things change.

Prozac is not Digger or skid steer bucket, but certainly is not shy of any jobs.

So today Sally and I decided to change and restart the small bed next to the newly rebuilt deck, after clearing the side beds and cutting the rotten tips, and other off cuts for the neighbors from the old decking materials.

So we decided to use Prozac along with a heavy duty cargo strap, to pull out the conifers one by one.

Two of the six were trying to put up a fight, one made Prozac’s wheels squeal, followed promptly by Sally squealing even louder.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psorcsbyeg.jpg

In the end the whole bed was cleared, excluding the little windbreak hedge.

I will find some more new and different plants at the next Bootfair I find.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps2m8pz088.jpg

While at it, I also cleaned and serviced the water feature, another two part skip find from years ago.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps0xe8qqlr.jpg

All back together, just awaiting new plants.

Mickey hanging over the hedge was impressed too.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...pswryjs3a9.jpg

Tomorrow ai need to assemble the tailgate bench as well.

If no Bootfairs are on.

Grizz1963 04-28-2019 06:41 AM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Mate Fil from Cambridge found it and a DHL sprinter van toy at a Bootfair, he is building an ex DHL Sprinter based campervan.
And could not resist. I know the feeling.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps4so5kdvx.jpg

Today one Bootfair did not happen, and the second one was half size, due to cold, chilly, spotty and breezy weather.

But I went anyway, and fond the second one still delivered.

Spent about £11.50 if my calculations are correct
https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...ps4x0ytybi.jpg

Liked these.

After a clean up they looked like this.

Read the fine print.

https://oi294.photobucket.com/albums...psxzdpcts9.jpg

Back home, the weather continued to be cold, with spotty rain, and I decided not to work on the tailgate bench today.

Coffee, biccies and some rarely watched television as Sally is at home doing a load of online study for the new job she starts tomorrow

My four day break flew by, but was good.

Nice finds from the boot fair.

Surprised there are no burnout videos of Prozac yanking up stuff ;)

The only burnout done was by Sally. Followed by a squeal of panic

Bootfairs are cheap fun.

Midweek madness

Why not cook dinner on a fire.

Surely a flat chicken on a fire trumps one from an oven.

Similar trimmings.

And baked bananas with chocolate buttons for desert

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psm2fipodx.jpg

Big knife. Split the spine.

Flatten.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psnnx9lvzt.jpg

Olive oil.

Rub both sides in Cajun spices, mixed spice, herbs and in my case....

Place on a plate, cover in cling film, zap in microwave for 10 minutes then another 5 minutes to ensure its cooked near the bone.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5pjkheuh.jpg

While preparing the chicken and vegetables indoors, the decent sized fire looked after itself. Followed by briquettes laid on the coals once it settled down.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pswyfcl9sa.jpg

A very happy me.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssed3vwgm.jpg

Results should be slow to show up.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssmla6vbm.jpg

Two bloody supervisors

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmbn1qbsw.jpg

Plated.

Sweet BBQ onions followed shortly.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvmdhvkog.jpg

Desert. Sprinkled cinnamon sugar over the top to add to badness.

No squirty cream tonight.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psqdf091oz.jpg

* Disclaimer: We only had a quarter chicken each the rest is tomorrow nights dinner.

Midweek madness used to be a tradition here.

Looks like its back.

Zucchini works well on BBQ

Berlingo or Noberlngo.....

Long weekend in England.p

Saturday weather had me packup no less than 4 times

Plan was to complete the bench.

After all that, this was what I had.

Bootfair today.

For mate @CraigRK

Plants, nice and affordable.

All our purchases

The poor quality wobbly children's play pony was £8.00 but retails at £50.00 +

My best was probably hinges, 50p per pair.

Then home.

Grizz1963 05-06-2019 12:01 PM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

One of the things I thought of doing was to create a “license plate” to hang below the front beam of the seat.

Something like GRIZZ’S BENCH but in my case, too many of my license plate collection would have to die.

So just a nice idea.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pskrq41x47.jpg

So after breakfast etc, I carried on with the bench.

Sally had stuff to do, dog to walk and other home jobs, so went off for a while returning later to supervise ad help.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psapz0a6qd.jpg

Harley always has to be there to help.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pslyzsurns.jpg

Armrests made wider, and screws clocked for those who need to see that.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psb2r2yvir.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psjumdonu4.jpg

Also added a strip of wood to the front of the seat.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9rxszzha.jpg

And as @CraigRK said to Sally, I have been trying to kill myself for 56 years, one day I will succeed.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pswi2oahd0.jpg

Final result for the day.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pskbqewxge.jpg

And of course, Branded.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pslfcvjwid.jpg

More to come.

Just saw this on the Phoenix Craigslist in a thread on the Chevy truck board.

Car in Mesa, Arizona.

Prices are certainly headed upward for these in 2WD form..

Personal preference means I have one, and it still makes me happy.

Link will die as soon as it sells, but in the mean time.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

So at 3.30 am my night was over, backache and then a chat with Dennis.

By 04.00 a mug of tea and forums.

Sally was up at her place by 05.00 to get her son to work for 05.45 as his car snapped an alternator belt yesterday,

So by 06.00 she came to pop in and bring me a mug of tea in bed.

Perfect ehhhh.

Anyway, once I was up, we made brekkie toasts d tea.

And of course had to use the new bench.

I can report it got approval from all parties.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssgux9ou3.jpg

Once done, I went to the garage to fetch out some hinges for Mickey next door and the cast pieces we made at Andy Martin’s place in Oklahoma last year, plus the cast iron ones bought at various venues.

They needed to be mocked up as part of the bench decorating

But before that, mixing PVA wood glue and sawdust from my wood-shop lathe table, to fill in the holes where all the screws were countersunk.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psv3j4ovka.jpg

Filled, needed to dry in the sun, then sanded back to flat and smooth.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2a7td8x1.jpg

Still need to look in my badge pile for a Chevrolet badge to fill the gap where one used to live.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3kwbpuv7.jpg

Sally and I tried the stars in various configurations and settled on this.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psebp98ycu.jpg

Once selected, there always is more to be done.

In the mean time, a few hours later, the holes all filled, and sanded back to standard.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psshp5vdin.jpg

Stars next,

Probably some time this week if I get time after work.

Thanks for checking in.

Grizz1963 05-06-2019 03:53 PM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Continuing with the bench decoration, some of you may remember that we made some castings and copies at Andy Martin’s place in Oklahoma..

I had also bought some cast iron pieces while travelling.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pseyw30ncz.jpg

They still needed to be cut, trimmed and processed to fit.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psugsarajx.jpg

After

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstn6jh9zj.jpg

I also had 4 doorknobs.

Cut off the rear of each in order to get a flush fit drilled through them and countersunk the fronts.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psemlox4o1.jpg

Once processed, I selected some satin spray paint and got going.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssmap8d0y.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqoxlypsp.jpg

While the paint was drying I also managed to sand all the holes that I filled in the morning.

Lastly, a second coat later.

Then brought to the house..

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psrexaj4xr.jpg

Next job is measure and fit the hardware to the bench.

So spent 98% of the day in a chair with a hotwater bottle behind my back.

By 17.15 I had to move the Blazer up to the house. First time out the house except for a GP visit at 08.30am.

Washed it down as its been stood for 4 weeks, started up on first turn of the key.

Pleased of course.

Been chatting to Dennis a lot recently

Sad to report that Mike Mittler owner of the NASCAR racing team that Prozac gets its number from, has died of cancer.
I got to meet Mike three years ago and he gave me a full factory tour of their Mittler Brothers factory. A generous, kind man.
A massive loss from any perspective. RIP Mike.

Linked to Mike Mittler, Dennis’ grand daughter Skyler is now 5 years old and Dennis recently did some body and paint work for Mile on his wifes car and they traded in a way they both benefitted.

A new Quarter Midget race car for his grand daughter to start racing in.

Racing runs deep in this family.

She will be racing the car locally at St Louis Missouri under the no 63 as a tribute which was one of Mikes NASCAR racing numbers.

Work on Dennis’ personal vintage Shell Gas Station continues.

With small bits being added all the time.

Spoke to Dennis on Sunday.

He had found a brand new, 1977 year model telephone call box for the gas station.

Never opened or installed

What’s the chance of such a find.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psvn5yl3qx.jpg

Had a business meeting in Croydon today, got home at 6.00pm and found a parcel from mate Mat “Speedle” who had just returned from his extended honeymoon in the USA.

Some cool leggings for Sally, and a Gas Monkey Garage T Shirt for me..

Sally was quite blown away, and kept saying “You have lovely friends, they must like you, Why? “

Thanks mate.

After I got home, I cut the grass and then at 7.30 started to fit the cast stars etc to the bench.

After the varnish over the weekend, this really is the end of the bench build.

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Spent yesterday at @CraigRK helping him and his son build a used, re-engineered shed on his driveway, yes, it needs to be there.

Prozac the Berlingo was also on duty to deliver some furniture to him that came from near my place.

We finished at 20.30 and then I drove the hour home.

No dinner, but a relaxing Rum and Pepsi Max, followed by a late bath after 22.00 to help my back along.

Bed by 01.00 which is massively late for me and Harley alarm clock by 05.22 after which I could not get back to sleep, so got up.

Doesn’t look like many people go to Bootfairs anymore as they certainly are smaller this year and the picking is certainly not as rich as it has been in the past.

Anyway,

Flag for USA
Four lots of screws were £1.00 the lot
Sign £1.00
Toy for Sally’s dog 50p
5 key rings £1.00
2 Portuguese cockerels for 50p
Small pliers 50p
Then at the second Bootfair which had 4 rows of cars only, vs the usual 16 rows, I got lucky, if you are a pipe collector.
5 good pipes for £12.00

So pretty disappointing Bootfair.

In news from the USA

Dennis completed the next generation 1/4 Midget build for his very eager to race, grand daughter and took it in to be inspected by the race officials yesterday.

All good.

Today they hope to go let her drive it around the track and start coaching her.

Most of you know Mickey next door to my place.

He and his wife were away for two weeks on a caravan holiday.

I looked after Wendy’s greenhouse and 100’s of seedlings and of course cut his grass as it goes mad.

Last night they got back and brought me an unnecessary thank you gift.

Firstly I thought, more clutter for my hoarders house.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pshlcujdvi.jpg

But I love it behind this whisky bottle that was a gift a few years ago from a guy with the same nickname as Mickey “Skippy”

For sure Bill.

I love random stuff.

This Harvard radio controlled plane was in the back of the Blue BMW at the other nights American car and Hotrod meeting.

I noted it was done in the South African Airforce badging and commented.

Growing up in SA they were part of our youth.
Usually in Silver and Orange they had a long career as trainers.

The sound is from the pitch of the propeller and they sounded glorious those days.

https://youtu.be/-hZADmD_p50

Next thing, I was the proud owner of this plane.

It will join my eclectic collection of stuff.

Grizz,
My photos were doing the same as yours..... HUGE!!!

If you are like me and take all of your photos with your phone and then send them to your email and load to photobucket.
When you send them from your phone to your email.
The phone will ask you: actual, large, medium or small for your pics.

Choose medium. You can send more in an email and when you load to P-bucket and then to the forum they will be sized appropriately.

I do wish we knew who or what screws this sizing thing up.

As I have never messed with it.

I would rather stop posting altogether than add more steps to it all.

As it is, Photobucket wants every pic edited or else it refuses to upload.

Bootfair today.

Saw this, the inspiration for Blazer.

Was £10.00

Long weekend in England meant I could have a few beers and cook a BBQ at a strangers home for 16 people.
One of Sally’s best friends from school.

And yes, I did the cooking to a higher standard than the usual burned offerings they are used to.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psxicc7ztd.jpg

Bootfair today, up early and out. Sally declined.

Got lucky, went back to the one trader who had offered me a load of Strawberry Depression glass for £5.00 yesterday when I took the bowl, as I knew there was a cheese dish.

Pleasantly surprised when he only asked £1.00 for it.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmnq8ycd9.jpg

The rest of the haul looked like this.

Many were for random others.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psdmnv7ds9.jpg

Nice 18” wheeled bicycle for @CraigRK for his daughter....... cost £3.00

For the price of a coffee.

And I got myself a post digging spade and I will be putting up some fence posts soon. £2.00 has to be cheap enough.

Next to the deck and Mickeys side.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psjihq0osl.jpg

I plan on going to see a 1983 Honda Civic in a bit, knowing I should not, but really wanting it.

Should be good.

Anyone else going?

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Its Friday.

Thank goodness

Washed the Blazer last night.

Then off to gas station to fill up for tomorrow

Does love a bit of fossil fuel.

Parked up.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfoghfgln.jpg

Hands on, manned (well, its a woman) gas stations are rare these days.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps2iny1334.jpg

Bit of a shock.

But it only had a 1/4 tank left on the gauge.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9kj8grlx.jpg

Ready to Rock n Roll.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psawibzqx1.jpg

Looking forward to two days at Brands Hatch race track

Grizz1963 06-02-2019 01:55 PM

Re: Grizz's Redneck Express 1966 Chevy Short Fleetside RESTO-GO!

Funny how things go tits up at times. And then may deliver.

Spent yesterday all day at Brands Hatch with the Blazer and Kent Breakfast Meeting.

Crashed last night by 9.15 but had an on and off night...... only settling by 2.00am

Overslept this morning, and was not able to go to Day 2 of Speedfest with the guys as I would not have made it through the gates with the Blazer.

Anyway, went to only one of the two Bootfairs as I was so late.

Got a few bits, nothing special though.

One for mate Craig, I already have one...... at 50p a must have.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6iryx8gl.jpg

A good clay pipe for my collection, really cheap at £2.00

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7d2zgyrj.jpg

Also found these.

Amber and Hallmarked silver sugar spoon and I can only assume a pickle fork.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psqol0ktqn.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1fwijz6g.jpg

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psdxlswa4u.jpg

Beautiful carved rose design in the pickle poker.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmipnebew.jpg

And bugs captured motionless for millennia

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pshqlveejg.jpg

Then..............

Surprise value.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pstxislfil.jpg

I love knives and what they represent as tools and also culturally as part of a rite of passage.

Bought these two from a guy I often buy from, he keeps interesting stuff at affordable prices.

Miniature knife with tortoise shell shells, and what must have been a farmers fiend for life.
Blades worn away, seeds and lint stuck in the recesses of the handle.
I live it, and imagine it’s life story.

https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pskwus6lpt.jpg

So this was my minuscule haul for the day.

Scarf and Marmite lunch bag plus gecko for Sally, some coins for travels.
