Well I finally got the new radiator in , with the home fabbed shroud and electric fan and fan control ............ this thing really kicked my butt.... I wish I had simply grabbed the radiator out of my other truck and found a factory shroud , I think it would have fit better and would have been a few hour job instead of a week plus job....

Well not today, a while ago but just now getting around to resizing and posting pictures. Picked up 2 doors Drivers was $50.00 passenger door was $25.00 (badly dented at door handle) and inner fenders were $9.00 each all were from the same self serve wrecking yard but were purcased weeks apart. My 64 looks good from a distance but does some small rust issues this should about take care of everything.

Started tearing down the '79 Suburban for donor parts for the '64. I listed what's left on the 73-87 parts board, if anyone is interested.

Forgot to add pics of our truck as it is now. As stated it looks good from 20' but it has rust in the lower corners of the doors and the front of the inner fenders where they meet the radiator support. I did buy the truck knowing all of this but out here in the central valley it's relatively easy to still find rust free parts at a reasonable price if you have the time to wait it out.
Now it's time to sit back and enjoy a Frosty Margarita. This karen Carpenter diet is killing me though.

Verrrry nice truck....

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Clyde65,
Yes it's a Gaylord lid. It's one of the reasons I bought the truck. It had the Gaylord lid, Vintage air (ice cold), power stering, big back back window and it is a good looking truck.

A.T.RockDriller,
Thanks, but I can't take ANY credit for it. I bought it that way. I did add power brakes (Thanks Captainfab for the bracket what a GREAT prodct you sell) and I added a dual master while I was at it. I picked up a disc front suspension from an 85 I plan on installing, it's dissasembled, cleaned, media blasted and painted but I still need to throw another $1000.00 in parts at it before I install it in the truck and no one sees any of it. Drop spindles, 4 new ball joints, rotors, springs, pads, disc master cylinder, brake hoses etc. and I'm looking at close to a grand. I need to get a second job just so I can support my truck.

Wow. Now, that is the MONEY SHOT!! I wish I could go into a motor and live to tell the tale! I have a 350 that needs new valve guides, I already know if I take it apart, it is sure to never run again. I am not a mechanic, I am a parts replacer!!

Got some POR15 Engine Enamel to test out. It was a pain to brush on, but it actually looks pretty good after 12 hours.

Army issue.

I painted the valve covers with the same paint and it looks awful using a brush. The intake was WAY more forgiving. I will paint my water pump and hope to bolt it all back together this week.

Same color two tone light green & ivory white partly because the firewall is that color and it grows on you. I have all the window trim to go back on also, I believe this was a dealer re-paint because the original color was dr green under the cowl corners...Vernski:gmc2:

Pulled the rear end out of my parts truck and got a little jump on cleaning her up. I've still got a ways to go before it's all ready to paint and assemble, but I got a decent start.

I drove it to work!

If the old sheetmetal didn't rattle so much, the wind noise wasn't so terrible, the HVAC system so bad, the windshield wipers so squeaky or quieter in the cab...

...you'd swear you were driving a new truck.

FINALLY found a 5 lug rear from a '71,no nasty noises or anything.
Haven't dug into it yet,but as far as i can tell it needs a pinion seal...so far
And low and behold ...from my local wrecker>
I thought 250 was pretty good price for a yard that charges half of new price on EVERYTHING.
Unfortunately he also has a '66 with front fenders to die for.
This will put my "Pawn Star" skills to the test!!? LOL

that rear end is wider than the one on your 63 I think 3/4" per side......maybe 1.5" per side. Kieth
