post up your camping pics
i traded my jeep cj7 for a 91 burban so I could have a little more room for the girlfriend and dogs. Plan on doing alot of camping in it when spring rolls around and it warms up a little. How about some pics of your truck, blazer, jimmy, or burban in the campground, pulling your camper, or getting back to that remote spot to hold me over for awhile.

Re: post up your camping pics
Do you have any pictures of your jeep? It sounds pretty nasty.

Re: post up your camping pics
I will post some up when I dig em out. It was just a mostly stock, low mileage, original 85 CJ7 RENEGADE with a 4.2L 258 I6 and T176 4 speed trans. No lift yet, new 31X10.50's and a new bestop. It was my dd and a real solid southern jeep. Needed some cleanup under the hood as the PO made it a rats nest under there. Had big plans for it, but found a burban I wanted and made a trade. I miss it, but love my burban.

Re: post up your camping pics

Re: post up your camping pics
Congrats on your Burb!
Oh, I have lots of pictures like that! Overlanding and camping is what my truck was built for! It sees a lot of CO, UT and AZ back roads. Here are a few of many pictures from our journeys. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1011/...dbf2f5aa_b.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1321/...246784eb_b.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1038/...2e1d05ec_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3085/...5a58b066_b.jpg Tuweep – Grand Canyon - Arizona Strip http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2533/...457596f3_b.jpg 100 Mile Canyon – Grand Canyon- Arizona Strip http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2562/...0c3e2965_b.jpg Valley of the Gods - Utah http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3439/...945dce00_b.jpg More Valley of the Gods - Utah http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2590/...9408e13e_b.jpg Hole In the Rock – Mormon Trail - Utah http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3511/...e27306eb_b.jpg More later… |

Re: post up your camping pics
Yeah, great pictures....that was a fun weekend…..except for you! Unfortunately, it was the same weekend you barber-poled your rear shaft on Old TinCup. We winched and tugged Rob for 2 miles to the Summit of TinCup pass where he drove home the rest of the way in front wheel drive.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2671/...03220c57_b.jpg As a side note......Our other buddy's (Bill) extinct ’83 Ram Charger lives on in the form of a ’92 Ram Charger. Swapped over geartrain (ARB’d Dana 44/60) and winch bumpers into newer sheetmetal. Easy way to fix body damage and get a fuel injected engine and OD trans. ;) This truck is coming along on Desert Trip 2011 this coming July. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5161/...1dc2f27b_z.jpg The old blue ’83 went to the crusher... http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4146/...1763198f_z.jpg A few oldies before I got the shell. Prolly around 2003 or 2004. Grizzly Lake – Chaffee County, CO. This trail is one mean SOB in a full-size truck! http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1231/...12ad774e_b.jpg Another old one. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1294/...bd6cfe31_o.jpg Packing up after a cold night – Taylor Lake – Chaffee County, CO http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1353/...fe31f30a_b.jpg Desert Trip 2010 – Canyonlands – Utah http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/...ccef377e_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4095/...a83fd147_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4118/...5c7bc7bb_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4138/...61718688_b.jpg Favorite camp spot of desert trip 2010 – Ekker Butte, Utah – Canyonlands http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4097/...a3cbe371_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/...d1758c91_b.jpg Absolute unbelievable view! Awesome place! This spot is an 8 hour off-road trail from the nearest highway. The nearest town by way of roads is 120 miles. Don’t break anything! http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4093/...a9ce4162_b.jpg Camped at Moab. Moab is a joke. That is where trailer queens go to wheel…real Overlanders go to Canyonlands to camp and wheel for 7 days at a time out in the bush like we did. We had to swing by Moab to see what all the hoopla is about. Wasn’t impressed. FOUR WHEELER and 4-Wheel & Off-Road can keep it. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4123/...bb9cc37a_b.jpg GPS download from 2009 Desert Trip: (SPOT pages load slow!) http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view?trip_id=172579 GPS download from 2010 Desert Trip: (SPOT pages load slow!) http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view/?trip_id=213659 If you are seriously into the Overlanding type of 4wheeling check out http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/. The site is not for the CK5, Pirate4x4 type crowd, rock crawlers, mudders, etc. The site is intended for people that really use their rigs for extended off-road travel. That site is my second favorite online hangout. My topper is actually in process of being replaced with a full-on custom made off-road camper being built by Phoenix Campers in Denver to make living quarters more comfy on these long distance trips. Hope to take delivery of it by April 2011. Pictures will be appearing shortly after! |
Re: post up your camping pics
Yeah we can laugh about that splattered driveshaft now. In the words of my 14yr old gamer son, that was an "epic fail!". Even worse was the fact that somewhere in that stupid rockpile did I realize my wallet was MIA. I was half tempted to drive back down to the campsite to look for it. The impending storm coming over the ridge was a dose of reality to just stick with the group. The ride from the summit to St. Elmo was fun with what was left of the rear shaft clanking like a cowbell every time it rotated. I found the wallet when I was putting the tools from pulling the remains of the shaft back in the rear of the truck. It was stuck between the bumper and fuel tank skidplate and rode all the way over the mountain in that spot.
At least the fishing was better up there than it usually was. Still was fun despite my stupidity. |

Keep em comin. and yeah, the previous owner built this burb right. I'm loving it so far, runs and drives great, and the inside is almost new. It's my dd, but I'm hoping to have it painted by the end of summer. |

I'm willing to bet I've seen him somewhere! Seems like the more people you talk to the more you get to know pretty much everyone into wrenching! Our S10 has perfectly good tires on it, not sure how he could turn them with the V8...
