Been here awhile, but recently acquired a truck to start. It will be heavily modified, static drop of about 4" ride height with 22"s. I plan to drive it lots long distance hence the Cgt name. Presently have the sheet metal blasted and epoxy coated. Just received my custom frame from Dale Gerry street rods.

Working on getting all the sheet metal mounted. Mocked up a 28" tall front tire.
It fits, but want a 30". Run out of room in a hurry. Being a static drop much different build than air ride. Attachment 1897065 |

Very nice start. I will be following the Gen V powertrain and it's challenges but for a keeper it should be worth the effort.

Installed the cowl hood hinges. I want to smooth the firewall, but appears the easiest way to do what I want is to replace the whole thing. There is a structure on the drivers side for the master cylinder and pedals that I would like to keep for strength, but looks like it might give me trouble as the firewall is proud there. Anyone have experience with getting the firewall flat?

Slow going in the summer as I rather ride or drive a Hot Rod. Even so I am slowly progressing with raising the bed. Will be a wood floor with less bolts.

Fit my new Mar-K tailgate. Uses small bear claw latches to close. Vertical gaps are good and it fits very close to flush with the bed sides. I would like to install some small rubber bumps so that when closed it won't be metal on metal.
Originally with chains holding the tailgate closed, it would rattle around a bit. There is barely enough room for the tailgate to fit into the box sides. The only way I see to get more room is cutting and welding? What are guys doing to accomplish this? Attachment 1913891 |

Semi Installed some custom inner fenders. Won't bolt up front and rear until I do the firewall.

I plan to modify my Mar-K tailgate. I really like the hidden hinge setup, but I think they forgot to hide the nuts/bolts for the hardware on the sides. As with pretty much everything we do with our trucks, its been done before. "Boosted Bertha" did something which looks more original. "Unruly" did it different. I am leaning to go more like unruly, except make my side pieces sized similar to what the bottom of my tailgate is, what do you think?

I like your idea - mimic "Unruly", but have the size/angle of the sides match that of the top/bottom.

Picking away at the box of the CGT.
Attachment 1922199 Got the tailgate fitting reasonabley Attachment 1922200 Attachment 1922201 I had a real issue with getting the tailgate fully closed as it was being stopped by the "stake pocket box". The only way I could figure out to fix was to relieve it or cut it. I chose to cut it and kind of like the "line" now. Because I have a raised bed I can install rubber bumpers in my new upper brace for the tailgate to rest against. Still have to slice and hammer the top of the bed sides to get the tailgate gap right. |

Measuring up for rims and tires. I would like 22" x 10" rims on the front. My plywood dummy that size fits but I will have to limit the rack as in the picture that is full turn. Interference comes from tire hitting the sway bar. It turns 30 degrees on the outside tire. About the same as my 34 Ford coupe.
