Re: Watts link info
That's great news . I will lookinto getting one . From what you are saying it should solve my problem without cutting my truck . Any opinons on which one . I have seen the KP one , it is well within my skill set to intall . The crazy thing is the one from Totaly polished is the same money , and yes it is fully polished unit . but welding and some skills I dont have are needed .
The other question is I cant seem to find contact info on the KP site to find out how much clearance i need from my dif to the fuel cell which i have mounted between the rails . Anyone know / Thanks again |
Re: Watts link info
The KP unit is a quality product that will bolt-up to the 12-bolt.
I didn't know the TP was the same price....nice piece there too. Regardless, the watts is the way to go !!! Let me know if I can be of more assistance. |
Re: Watts link info
can someone give me a link to a site that has the info on the watts link. i am interested if it is a true bolt in kit for my 69. thanks

Re: Watts link info
kp components
totally polished speedwaymotors Some guys have used this one, but you'll have to do some fabricating to make it fit. |
Re: Watts link info
I put the KP link in my blazer this weekend. I had to modify the crossmember in front of the gas tank. and extend the flexible brake line. crossmember mod should not be needed on a truck from what I've been told.

Re: Watts link info
FYI, KP link is not totally bolt on if your frame is not boxed. You need to weld a plate on the frame (box it in) on each side.

Re: Watts link info
Did installing that KP setup totally eliminate your side to movement . I have 1 " or less tire clearance at ride hieght .
Thanks |
Re: Watts link info
Do you have a watts link in your own truck ?

When I called about the adjustable panhard bar they said that there was only 1/2 inch of side to side movement throughout the travel. The watts should be much less if any. |
Re: Watts link info
thanks for the response , good luck next weekend . How much was the kit ?

Absolutely none !! CHeck out this F-150 I did a while ago... This thing has 23" wheels, with less than 1/8" clearance on the side where the fender radius start to drop down. Bagged, with custom cantilevers and watts link No rubbing...constant axle locating thru ENTIRE suspension travel... - - http://i32.tinypic.com/35n79sy.jpg - - http://i28.tinypic.com/2utjho9.jpg - - Sorry for the Ford pics....not my truck...not my style of doors...but thats what the customer wanted...money is money !! |
Re: Watts link info
In the new Sport Truck they have a article about how to properly set up a watts link and panhard bar... I referred to it a couple times. Like at half travel the "pivot arm" should be just a little off center and the watts link bars should be horizontal with the ground... I didnt know that.. I dunno it was very helpful to me though

Re: Watts link info
Chief thanks for the clearity . Do you believe with my adjustable panhard bar that I would be safe for clearance . Like i said I have nearly an inch on both sides at one point in the suspension travel . But maybe I am just not adjusting it properly .I am going to order the KP unit if need be but would appreciate your opinion before spending that $ .
I am going to get that Sport Truck Article right away and see if that gives me some info as well . Thanks again . |
Re: Watts link info
If you have a whole inch on both sides, then I think you would be fine with just a panhard bar.
Center it a ride height, and away you go. |
Re: Watts link info
As soon as the snow is gone that will be my plan , thanks again . I hope you dont mind if I keep your contact for future info .
