68 c10 restoration
Recently decided to fix up the 1968 chevy that's been in the family for quite a while now. Here's some pics. :bowtie: http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...01121655_1.jpg http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...to01121655.jpg http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...to01121654.jpg http://i1140.photobucket.com/albums/...01121653_1.jpg

Re: 68 c10 restoration
looks like a wonderful truck that thing on the dash that says ''gm'' is a highly priced item so dont go seeling it for 5 cents! it is a 68 choke delete. nice truck what have you done to it?

Re: 68 c10 restoration
Well, my memory is fuzzy on this one, but either my grandpa or my dad put a 427, but my dad's getting the 427 out of this, so i'll be putting a 400 small block in it.

Re: 68 c10 restoration
I'll see if I can take more pictures...if this rain stops pouring.

Re: 68 c10 restoration
oh your in modesto i am not far from you! yes it was raining here for a couple days now... yes more pics will be needed!

Re: 68 c10 restoration
Yesterday I got a battery for it, so hopefully I can move it to the garage.
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
nice signature! haha yes batteries help:lol: so is this truck really rusty or is it trusty?
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
pretty trusty, although it hasnt been started up since '07 or '08.
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
just found out that the dimmer switch is rusted when we turned on the lights. Looks like another thing I need to fix.

Re: 68 c10 restoration
Nice treasure trove you've got there. I like the 59 El Camino in the background, and the other one (a Ford?) has some nice patina going too.
Have. Fun with your project. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: 68 c10 restoration
looks like a great starting point. im up on stockton

Re: 68 c10 restoration
actually its a '39 or '40 chevy, they were passed down from my grandpa.
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
My dad and I pulled the 400 out of the garage yesterday. So far for disassembly, all we have to do is take the pistons and crank out. The engine had been barely broken in when it was taken out years ago. Hopefully this rain goes away so i can take out the tired 427 in it now.

Re: 68 c10 restoration
I'm thinking of getting a 3 speed automatic column shift with tilt out of a 71-78 chevy van. I won't really focus on cosmetic things on the truck, just concerned about getting it running for now.

Re: 68 c10 restoration
Does anyone know if i can get the seat reupholstered with the original bench seat pattern? I think it's just the plain jane vinyl seats.
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
i know for sure no one reproduces the correct covers so i think thats a no haha but you can get the covers that they make for the 68s and 67s:lol:
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
Haha, just my luck. I wanted to keep it as close to how I had it, but looking new. Guess I'll have to go with something else.

Re: 68 c10 restoration
yes repo do as much damage as they do good for us 67 72 chevrolet owners (and many more i assume)
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
I have seats like the 4th picture on here, but a different color.

|

|

Re: 68 c10 restoration
I'm thinking about fixing cracks in my steering wheel. I'm curious to know if they were one solid color if i'm going to repaint it.
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
all steering wheels were painted one color on every year
|
Re: 68 c10 restoration
Well, the engine is in a machine shop as we speak. The bench seat looks like it came off of a 60-66 chevy. I took a look again and it wasn't any of the ones in the link. I also dug out the TH400 transmission and I'm getting ready to work on it while the engine is away.
