Re: started working on the 65 suburban
that body looks pretty solid for east coast!
did you get it that way, of hs it been fixed already? gonna look sick on that low frame! |
Re: started working on the 65 suburban
i got this around xmas time and i havent taken the time to do the full research on where it lived its life but it did come from cali originally and you are right for east coast it is in awesome shape we have all the rust over here!!!!!!!!!!! that is one reason why i shifted gears from doing the truck i have also wanted a suburban for a long time so when this one poped up i grabbed it also i am hoping to be able to lay the pinch welds with this when done Dinos sub has been an inspiration i will try to keep pics comming as progress is made we all love the pics!!!

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Sweet. I would love to a modern drivetrain swap one of these days. I think I want to put a newer duramax into my '78 though....of course that conversation would be on a different thread.:metal:

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
I have a 4.8 in my 65, love,love,love it!
and it does the 20MPG+ on the highway. Cort, I have heard the Dodge 5.9 is a much easier and affordable swap for a deisel, the 6.5 is huge also. |
Re: started working on the 65 suburban
the vortec motors are very affordable(at the local junk yard) and there is a ton of aftermarket stuff for them to help with the swap and for more performance!! i cant wait to drive mine!!!

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
thanks everyone sad to say that isnt my shop the owner of the company i work for was nice enough to let me sneak some time in the shop that is why i am hi tailing the work i hope to put the windows all in and finish patching the floor cut the tunnel and smooth the fire wall and cut the area out for the rear c knotch in the next couple weeks then i can get the frame ready to drop this body on it!!!!!!!!!!
Dino you cant see int he picture with the frame but it has been around 0 degrees out side which makes working on the truck suck!!!! not to mention the white stuff 12 '' last night!!! |

Re: started working on the 65 suburban
Lookin' good gostranger!! I bet sanding that roof was fun:lol:......
|
Re: started working on the 65 suburban
sanding was easy compared to spraying it i had a long table on each side and i am 6'2'' and i was still having trouble hanging over to get the center!!!!!by the way sanding took a long time!!!!
|
Re: started working on the 65 suburban
The roof is hell ! I know that from mine. I borrowed two sets of scaffolding from a friend and although that made it easier, it was still work. We also placed hard cardboard inside between the cross ribs and roof to give it a little stability so the roof dint bend if leaned on.
Nice work. I wish I could get mine started again. |
