Gray's Bad Medicine (67 Stepper shop truck)
This 67 Stepper has been in my shop for about 3 months now, I have been taking pictures but I haven't started a build thread. So I will start from the beginning and try and get it to where I am today in the next day or so. The guy that owns it is in the process of turning an old Pharmacy (Gray Drug Co.) into a restaurant in downtown Franklin Tennessee. Hence the name Gray's Bad Medicine.
Ok... The truck: 1967 C-10 SOLID stepper with a 350 and 3 on the tree. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psfa319170.jpg The truck was lowered but not done properly. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9819b63a.jpg The cut springs up front could be removed without even undoing any bolts.http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psfead8e30.jpg And out back the upper spring retainers were nonexistent and the bed was not bolted down tight so...http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1a2c4800.jpg The tires were rubbinghttp://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps18fc3922.jpg Over all though the truck was in great shape!http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1ef475f8.jpg[URL=http://s1296.photobucket.com/user/Rusbuilt/media/Grays%20c10/IMG_0487_zpsbf640a01.jpg.html]http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psbf640a01.jpg[/URLhttp://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps09a57f21.jpg Also this truck started its life with a utility bed thats why the cab has trim on it. Re: Gray's Bad Medicine (67 Stepper shop truck)
Now for the plan!
1. Remove engine and trans, replace seals and bolt ons like fuel and water pumps, clean and paint engine and swap the 3ott for a 700r. 2. Add power disc brakes with drop spindles and correct lowering springs. 3. Rear mount gas tank 4. bolt in C-notch 5. Add power steering 6. New dual exhaust 7. Swap to 5 lug 8. Remove trim and do some minor body work (not sure what we are doing for paint just yet) |
Re: Gray's Bad Medicine (67 Stepper shop truck)
More disassembly. Front clip removed, the engine was on 6cyl perches.
http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7c2c4efb.jpg Engine removal and Mess! http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps16c20ab5.jpg The engine on the stand ready to be stripped and cleaned.http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4cc4e6ac.jpg Then I decided I was going to take this build all the way down. Heres Chuck (thelonerife) helping me remove the cab.http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps395ded96.jpg And now I have a fresh starting point! http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psfb989eeb.jpg |

Re: Gray's Bad Medicine (67 Stepper shop truck)
So with the frame bare I installed the c-notches, built a little notch for the power steering gear box and cut holes for the exhaust in the trailing arm crossmember.

Re: Gray's Bad Medicine (67 Stepper shop truck)
Thanks guys.
After i made all the modifications to the frame several hours were spent with a wire wheel, followed by a little flat paint!http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps65a89109.jpg I then installed the blazer tank. http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7fc6221.jpg Purchased a 5 lug rear end and a big thanks to Jeff (jranger) and Haylen (Bryan 5150's daughter for cleaning it and getting it ready to paint!http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psdf55f931.jpg Heres a shot of the rear after it was painted and installed http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psb4e8200e.jpg |
Re: Gray's Bad Medicine (67 Stepper shop truck)
Meanwhile the firewall of the cab was getting some love too thanks to Bryan (5150) and Alex (J'aimi jmsaunders' son).http://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...psf7644ee5.jpghttp://i1296.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9533eb2e.jpg
