Found on a Mountain Trail

We found this on a State Park Trail at Amicolia Falls State Park. At least my 4 year old Grand daughter spotted it first ! pretty cool!

Looks like a 48-54 1st series 5 window.

We love Amicalola Falls SP. We will be thru there next week if nothing happens

That's right a AD 47 to 55 1st series. Looks like it's been there quite some time. Can't really get close enough to get a good look, your not allowed off the trail and it is really steep.
If you get there next week this is on the West Ridge trail, it takes you to the middle of the falls. Truck is about 1/2 way there on the up side of the mountain.

Looks like it has been there a long time. It would be interesting to know how it ended up there. Nice find by your Granddaughter!

Ran when parked, minor cab corner repair needed.

1954-55.1 Five window, corner window can be seen just above the rot out at the body line. Bed has flat top rails.

Re: Found on a Mountain Trail

Cab is def not a 54-55, you can see the split for the windshield along the branch. I saw this a few years ago and you really don't get an appreciation for it's location w/out seeing it in person. No clue how it go there and suprised they didn't remove it when they built up the park.

Yep, you can see the split for the windshield, corner windows and looking at the tailgate area of the bed, not a 54 bed. Angled rails and bead rolled stake pockets. Got to be earlier.
Pretty crazy how it got all the way up in the mountain like that.

Slightly different perspective from a pick i took in 2011. Still doesn't do it justice the random placement the truck is in.

Yep, without a doubt, 48-53 Chevy or GMC. Of course it could be a 47 but I don't think they had the five window cabs out yet.

Maybe some aspiring artist got a $50,000 Federal Art Grant to place it there to enhance the parks wilderness experience.

What's sad...that is believable.

Re: Found on a Mountain Trail

I agree that mphudak's picture gives a better perspective, it is literately up the mountain at a 60 degree or better angle.
I wondered if it was placed as rift raft to control washing or maybe a Moonshine run gone bad. It is in that area of NE Georgia.

Re: Found on a Mountain Trail

It's simple, it was parked there years ago, probably not running, just pushed over there or what ever. Then the trees grew around it, lifting it up.

Looks like you had a nice day to visit the falls ! Were about a hour and half away. Great place to take the Grand kids to wind them down.
