Can you share some photos for your cab jig? i did it the hard way with 6 buddys but only 4 of us were actually doing anything hahaha, hopefully it goes back on a little smoother on install |
Re: 1964 GMC Build

used the cab jig and did the removal and install by myself, not smart, but I hate to rely on others.

Re: 1964 GMC Build
Motor is a SBC 350 from Jegs mated to a 700R4 Stage 2 from Jegs. I bought them together as a package from a Marketplace seller. I am running Tru-Ram horn exhaust maniford. I am planning on taking next week to have 2-1/2 inch exhaust with flowmaster 40's istalled with side exit in front of rear tires. Open to suggestions if this is not a good route. I wanted to come out of the bed side, but don't have the heart to cut up the bed and ruin the new paint.

Haven't had time to reassemble for a few months now. Day job consumed my life. Just got started again. Truck was blown apart when I bought it. I need a bit of help with inner fender to radiator support connection. My inner panels have 2 lower holes, see arrow. But radiator support does not have holes to support this connection. Are these holes not needed. Current connection seems adequate without these 2 additional attachment points.
|
Re: 1964 GMC Build
My original core support did not have bolts there either. You're good there
|
Re: 1964 GMC Build
Ya either does mine.
|
Re: 1964 GMC Build
thanks, kind of odd to have those holes. I will leave them out

I'm a little closer. Need to plumb the trans cooler lines, wiring, glass, and carpeting. Also need to sort out the tires and wheels.

Re: 1964 GMC Build
Very nice! Thank you for sharing. Do you have more information on where you got the tailgate latch?
|
Re: 1964 GMC Build
Tailgate latch system is from all American billet out of Arizona. It is sold at many other sites including classic industries. It was not a direct bolt in, I had to modify to get it to fit.

I had issues with the brackets on the tailgate side interfering with the cable when closing. I had to grind them off. Works fine now.

Re: 1964 GMC Build
Serious progress! It's coming together nicely.
|
Re: 1964 GMC Build
Really liking your truck! What are the details of the steering wheel? Thanks for sharing!

Steering wheel is a stock custom deluxe wheel for 1960-1965 c10's and I believe 1959 and 1960 impala and El-Caminos. I painted it the color of the body, and then wrapped it in leather. It is bolted to a 1972C10 tilt steering column. I need to sort out the horn button and turn signal cancelling cam.

Re: 1964 GMC Build
Nice build,
I still have them lying around, I still have to install them, they go under the front mask/radiator support, where exactly do I have to look again myself. |
