Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I love the old four wheel drives from back when they were not so common,up through the early-mid`70s.I ended up with 67/72s because they were the best for a practicle daily driver and still had that class only vintage iron can have.I grew up with my dad being into Land Rovers. He had four of them froma`59 to a`68,two short and two long.I ran around in the long`62 back in high school. That`s what I learned to get stuck in.:D
I started off getting into Power Wagons.I toyed with them some and ended up getting a`69 W200 for my first daily driver.Let`s see yours, old pictures, and any other pictures of all types of 4wds up through the`70s. Here`s a few Power Wagons: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ks55/9d_12.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...cks55/3a_1.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...5/DSC_1350.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...-66/9ab2_1.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...MG_4792-vi.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ler-DodgeP.jpg |

I dig the Power Wagons and the Willy's 4x4 wagons - both are pretty sweet. I may have a few pics on my office computer that I can post at a later time.

I love almost all vintage 4wd's, but I'd really love to have one of the IH Scout 80 or 800 series.
Not a show truck, but here is a pic for example... |

1939 Snow Cruiser. Back in the early seventies I read an article about this 4x4 in one of my 4 wheel drive magazines. This vehicle was free for the taking if you went and brought it home. Last seen in person 1958, now believed to be at the bottom of the ocean due to Antarctica shrinking.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Cool trucks.Randy, here`s the brother to your friend`s rig:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...7/IMG_1287.jpg Those woodies I got off the computer. The car woody wagon is a Mercury.I did see that one at the Santa Cruz Woodys show in`03.That one and the Ford sedan are Marmon-Harrington conversions. As much as I love GMs,I can`t believe that when that Mercury was restored they put a chevy 350 in it.He said he did it to make it more roadworthy.Roadworthy?Where does he drive it that the original flathead V8 wouldn`t and I doubt it hardly gets driven.I`m just saying a car of that caliber should have the correct motor.I saw it listed for sale later that summer for $250,000.Now,do you see what I mean about the chevy motor? For 1/4million I`d want it correct. I bought my first set of those Armstrongs from Cepek in`78 when they started making them.I waited 6 month for them to come out.I think I bought 5 sets all together by the time they stopped making them.I really liked them.I lifted that truck w/o a lift kit and cut the fenders to fit them.I took the front leaves out, arched one main leaf to desired arc(anvil & sledge hammer),matched the other side, matched the rest of the leaves...instant lift, caveman style. On the back I cut and welded pieces of leaf together to make blocks. There was nothing made for that truck. |
