Vintage picture thread

Well that "Chevy Runs Deep" Commercial got me thinking. We all prolly have an old vintage glove box pic somewhere. Below is mine. Dad's 67 in the back. (The main reason I sought to find an original Stepside SWB to begin with) Im the one in the middle. Funny I think his was rotted worse than, then mine is now. Funnt how I dont remember that about it.

Here's a "vintage" picture - it's not mine and it's not quite what you're looking for, but it's one of my favorites that I have saved.

This thread is a good idea.

Lets see some more of our trucks when they were "YOUNG" !!!

For anyone interested in old pics, check out the HAMB. There is a thread called "vintage shots from days gone by" with nearly 1500 pages of really cool old pics.

Yep, have a few of me with my burb back when it belonged to my parents and I was a passenger sitting behind my Dad.

There are most likely more, but I have to go through a bazillion 35mm slides to find them that my Dad has at his home. One of these days...

4WD Suburbans are among the lowest total production of the models produced for the '67-72's.

Yep, mine is 1 of some 300 produced 1968 K20 burbs out there.
Still, most people could care less about them...

Here's the one with all the "oldies" on their way from the factory to their new homes and one of a "very old" one in the Sequoia National Park - and if I said that was my Mom, then I could actually use it in this thread. LOL

I just thought some people might not have seen these two pictures.

The only picture I have of a car when I was "little" is the day my parents brought home our 64 Mustang on April 16th 1964 !!! ( I was 11 )

Lets see some more of the "FAMILY" pictures like he asked for !!! They are great !!!

I think that was a "set-up" picture - all of those cars and trucks weren't made at the Saint Louis plant with that Corvette now, WERE THEY !!! LOL

I think they got them all together to show what Chevrolet was building in 1962.

I think it would have freaked me out backing that pickup up the ramps to the #1 spot on the carrier. I wonder how many fell off.

When I was in high school 30+ years ago, I had an ROP auto body class. There were a couple of cars there donated by GM for us to practice on, they had fallen off the car carrier. They were the Buick or Pontiac equivalent of a Chevy Nova, circa 1979. Rear ends crunched and folded under. We kids were all drooling at the power velour bucket seats, but the rules were strict. No parts could be sold, they were for instruction only. They also had carbs that looked like a Quadrajet, but were 2-barrels with the secondaries blanked off.

I don't think I have seen any new vehicles traveling by carrier for 20+ years. Is it still done?

Did you notice the marks in the ash, to the right of the truck, that the helicopter made when it landed to check the truck and the FOOTPRINTS leading from that point over to and around it ?

Definitely was a set-up picture.

I don't have any from back when the trucks were new, have some pictures as old as the Mt Saint Helens one. I had this one when I lived in Flagstaff. I have others from the '80s

Maybe a '64-'65 Chevelle?

I spy a fullsize Chevy station wagon parked next to the pickup. I miss my '75 Caprice Estate. Woodgrain sides and all. :metal:

Left was my dad leaving for GM his first day.

My dad got a new car every 3000 miles so he went through a bunch of cars. My mom got a new 67,68, and 69 camaro each year after he finished with them. Ned jarret of NASCAR bought one of them because we lived in Conover at the time.

That picture of my dad was in Yazoo Miss the day he left for Detroit Michigan. They gave him the car to drive to training when he took his position with GM. He had been working at the dealership in Yazoo at the time. They told him to pick out a car off the lot to drive.
Here is a shot of the 67 I think!
Bottom left, thats my sister and me standing there. if it's in 67 I was 7 years old.
Top row is of the little smoky camper they pulled with it to Fla every year. That's my mom in the first one and both of them in the other one in front of the house in Conover NC.
The one with all the trailer is after my brother bought it at his place back then.
