Project Money green
Guess its about time I start a build thread for my 71 C10 suburban. I have been looking for one to make a family cruiser for about three years or so. This one finally turned up on craigslist right in RI. Ended up buying it and its got a 350 2brl with a 3 on the tree. Mostly original truck with a "fresh" paint job.
I started by rebuilding driveshaft and that's where I started to find all the rust hidden by previous owner. There was about 10 rust holes in main floor, all the cross members where rotted and there's a decent amount of bondo in the body. Here is my rust repair thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=724682 Since finishing the majority of the rust repair i the floor I switched to upgrading the brakes and suspension. Ordered a 4 wheel big brake kit and 4/5 lowering kit from CPP. Also a set of 20"x8.5" Boss 338 with grey centers. I currently have the rear c notch, springs, shocks, brakes done. Also replaced all the rotted cross members and built a new marine grade plywood floor. Front suspension parts are painted and new ball joints, cross shafts, idler and pitman arms ready to install. Hoping to get it back on all four and install interior that i picked up out of a 05 escalade before my birthday at the end of the month |

Was raining this morning so me and the guys went to work on the suburban. Prepped and por 15 the pass side frame, installed front suspension and brakes. Finished bolting the plywood and installed the 3rd tire tub. Dropped the fuel tank to get at the remaining bolts and ended up springing a leak when I tightened straps down. A call to lmc and a new one is on the way.
Rolled it outside and power washed 4 months of grinding dust off of it. |

Looking good. You did a ton of work but it's coming out great. Those wheels really made a huge difference in the look of the truck. What's left to do to get it running for the summer?

Looks good. What is the paint code on the SPID? I've seen the roof paint extend down the pillars like your's and I've seen the body color go up the pillars. I am not sure which was correct from the factory. I am still trying to figure out which way I like best.
My Suburban was an olive green/white combination originally but has been changed. |

Got the LMC fuel tank installed this morning, not gonna lie it broke my balls. I ended up ditching there hardware and welding nuts to the inside of the frame for mounting. Got everything done and the sending unit wire was laying on the floor so took take back out to install. Moved on to pass floor rot and got everything fit and ready to weld in but ran out of time.

Made some progress this weekend, getting very close to driving again.
-finished floor patch and body mount brace on pass side -painted front section of floor - mocked up front seats - removed speaker and cut bottom section of center console and got it close to fitting - modified drivers side second row bucket to fit |

Seats look good so far. They need to be back like that to give you the clearance between the second row and front seats. How did you modify the seat bracket to fit better?

Well I finally got the truck on the road and love it. Took it out for the first time last week and ran like a champ. After 4-5 calls to CPP we finally figured out that they sent the wrong springs for the rear and are making it right with a new set and shocks. Also covered the back panel with some leather I picked up on Amazon, it really turned out great and now I'm going to do a headliner and make some door panels

Front and middle seats are mounted. Been driving it for a few weeks and it runs great, CPP disks work great it's like driving a new truck. Hopefully replacement springs will be here this week. Giving the interior some love now, headliner, new door panels, fat mat and new window felt to stop them from rattling

The correct springs and shocks showed up Saturday so I swapped them out this morning. Went from CPP 5" rear springs to 4" HD and it sits level and rides much better. My brakes started to make noise so I'll have to investigate that.
