Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
2 Attachment(s)
I have been out of the loop for a few years, just going through some stuff but I wanted to share a new project Dad and I are working on. I am looking forward to reconnect with some old friends.
We went down to Savannah GA (Vidalia GA) and picked this one up Monday. 67 SWB, original stepside truck. 6cyl, 3ott. One owner, original title and sales invoice. It is probably the cleanest most rust free 67 I have ever seen. I have had a bunch of these trucks and it's uncommon to see an original rocker / cab corner 67 cab for sure. The paint isnt perfect but I will be repainting it anyway. I just bought it because it's so solid. Nothing special truck, very few options but it runs like a sewing machine. The 90s bed is going to be replaced with a 67 Short fleet wood floor. 5/7 static drop of some sort, 4 wheel discs, Built 6.0LS and 4L80 combo. Stay tuned ! It should be interesting. :metal: |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Sweet truck and I like the plan. Should be another nice build by you guys.

Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Glad to see another high potential build coming! It's been a bit slow here lately, and that's partially my fault too.

Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Subbed to watch!

Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
I am in for the build.

Chad and I were able to get the 90's model bed off and begin the process of cleaning 50 years of south Georgia sand from the frame.
Next step is lowering the rear, C-Notch the frame and add an adjustable track bar and performance shocks. Axles will be swapped out for new 5 lug versions and rear Disc Brakes. A Boyd's Welding EFI tank is being fabricated and should arrive by the end of the month. The ACC medium blue loop high hump carpet came today and looks great. One step at a time. POP |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Great to see you back on here. I followed your previous build and will be following along on this one.

We are trying to build a nice all GM short bed with a wooden floor made form exotic African Mahogany. In our search for factory wood bed panels we found this super solid wood bed long wheel base.
The truck bed had been protected by a camper cover since 1970. The inside of the bed is amazing! The wheel tubs have just a few scratches and zero rust at the mounting flanges. The header panel is straight as an arrow and with no dents or rust. The rear bed sill and cross sills are perfect. We will be using everything except the bed sides to build the short bed. We are still looking for nice GM swb bedsides. POP |

We picked up a few things last week for the '67. A local C10 hoarder friend had a quick ratio power steering box for a '71 Cheyenne Super, tail light housings, nice GM seat belts, NOS Trico wiper blades and tail gate trunnions.
We got em all cleaned up and ready to go on the truck after it's painted. POP |

The Boyd's Welding Tank finally arrived. It comes complete with fuel pump, mounting kit and fuel sending unit and is ready to drop in and go.
The tank is too nice to cover with a wood bed and the quality is amazing! POP |

My C10 hoarder friend also welded up his version of a super strong set of C Notches. They weigh a ton, but will be perfect for our drop.

We got a complete drop out, 42k mile 6.0L LS engine and 4L80e home and now begins the process of doing a transplant on the '67. Chad will be changing to a Trailblazer SS intake, a hotter BTR cam and a set of 243 heads. The 317 heads are good heads, but the 243's flow much better.
Parts are being collected and plans are being made, so stay tuned! POP |

The interior in Chad's truck is super nice. We will be changing the seat cover to a Cheyenne scroll pattern and new carpet. Plus, a high hump to give a little more clearance for that 4L80.

Our Moser 5 lug axles came in today. We have used them in a bunch of trucks and they really work nice. Also assembled the new tail light lenses on the restored housings with new gaskets, bulbs and stainless screws.
Now to snag a rear end cover gasket and some Redline Differential Oil for the axle update. POP |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Looks like an excellent foundation for your build! How did you find a Gen III LS with only 42k miles on it???

They are out there. I found one complete with trans with 39,000 miles for three grand. Had to drive nine hours to pick it up. |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
I'm still around, just trying to get my kitchen project wrapped up. I'll be hitting this one hard very soon.
Big static drop, 4 wheel disc, nasty 6.0 / 4L80, new paint, finish up the fleet bed, wood kit, etc. It will make a very nice truck. Stay tuned, more coming as soon as I can. |

It's getting serious at the Coley shop!
Chad has sparks flying and C-Notches are going in. We will be adding BellTech 5" springs, shocks, Adjustable Track Bar, Shock Relocaters, Rear Disc Brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. When we get the rear suspension all buttoned up we are dropping in the Boyd Welding EFI gas tank. Did I say that we hate rivets? POP |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Awesomeness!!!

A little progress today... we finished installing the rear disc brakes and got the shocks and springs bolted up. We are still waiting on the track bar and degree shims. We will be bending up some brake lines and adding some differential oil to the rear end.
The two 20" x 10" US Mags will go on tomorrow, then we can move to the front of the truck. Exciting stuff! |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah

We bolted the US Mags on the rear after converting to five lug Moser Axles and rear disc brakes. The tires are 295/45r/20 and really will stuff up under the wheel wells.
Next on our list, Boyd Welding EFI gas tank, POP |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Very nice project guys! That is an amazingly solid truck. I'm in to watch as well. Great work on it so far!

Rear disc conversion is the Eldorado setup from Little Shop MFG, I just upgraded it to drilled and vented rotors. Rear sway bar, track bar, and pinion shims are on the way. I'm ready to tear into the front. I'm going to rebuild the control arm bushings, tie rod ends, all new ball joints, etc. The fronts will be 20x8, 255/45. Well post up some pictures once we dig into it. It's just rolling around on the 6 lug setup for now. Those wheels and tires will be for sale very soon if you know someone who might be able to use them. I think they're 16x8. Mickey Thompson wheels. They'd be good for a daily driver. The tires are Toyo Proxes, like new. I will trade for LS or C10 parts too. Just lemme know.. |

I am going to paint it Marina Blue, fleet wood floor bed, African Mahogany bed wood, stainless strips, full Mar-K Custom / CST trim. 4.5/6.5 static, 6.0 / 4L80, high hump, were considering a white houndstooth interior. Etc etc.. Not sure yet. Wheels may change. I have been known to do that.. lol.. Should be a nice truck when were done with it. |

Beautiful day in Tennessee today, so we pulled the rebuilt original 250 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed transmission out of the truck.
We degreased the firewall and frame rails and brought out the pressure washer to clean away 55 years of South Georgia sand. Next step is to drop the front and install the huge drilled and slotted front rotors and calipers. We will have a truck load of parts ready for the media blaster by the end of the week. The exciting part is dropping in that big ole 6.0 LS. Stay tuned! POP |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
Man I wish I was closer, I'd take that 250 and trans off your hands...

Are the later model Silverados 6 lug pattern the same as the early c10 ? Those front tires and wheels (I have all 4. Mickey Thompson Classic wheels) will be for sale soon. I just thought maybe someone with a 6 lug daily might like to have them. They have new Toyo Proxes tires on them. 16x8 I believe. |
Re: Another one underway! Meet project Savannah
There are a lot of early and late model Chevy trucks that could use those wheels. The wheels are 6 lug - 5.5 inch (6 lug - 139.7 mm).
