intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

Ive been lurking on here for a while and finally decided to sign up and start posting some pics.. i bought this truck bout 4 months ago and havent taken too many progress pics.. but hopefully since i got a forum to post some pics on ill do a better job of getting pics along the way.

this is my first build so be easy on me... i used to be into hondas but i got tired of dumping tons of money in something then it still not being worth **** when i got done..

i didnt get any pics when i very first got the truck but u guys know what these things look like stock
here it is after pulling out the springs and wipeing it down with some old motor oil
http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/4715/truck3a.jpg
http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/3143/truck1x.jpg
here it is with my dog posted up
http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/5...ckandguin2.jpg
bout to get started on the rear air ride
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/2070/truck11.jpg

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/7403/truck6o.jpg
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/3048/truck5c.jpg
i got lazy for a while and didnt get any pics trough the progress so it skips a lil bit
rear almost done... still gotta build a panhard bar and mount the shocks
then pull apart and paint
the truck is jacked up in the front so it makes the frame look weird in these pics
anyway still havent decided if im gonna make my own crossmember for the rear or just buy the porterbuilt

also do u guys think i need to box in my trailing arms now since the weight is gonna be in the middle of them?

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/6835/dsc0117hw.jpg
http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8261/dsc0118nh.jpg

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/8532/dsc0119mo.jpg
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5857/dsc0120ck.jpg
now i got it jacked up and started pulling out the front suspension.. gonna pull teh motor and front clip pretty soon.. im getting a 454 tomorow and i already have a th350..

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

sweet project i like it, and X2 on the dropmember lol, thats why i did the spindles and cupped lower a arms. how did you do that (make them look a little cartooney) with the pics, that is pretty cool???

Sweet ride. Lotsa cool trucks turning up around here lately.

Any idea how long it takes to completely fill your tank? I have 1 480 and a 5 gallon tank and am contemplating adding a second compressor.

thanx guys!! those compressors fill the tank from 0 - 200 psi in just a lil over 5 mins
and from 165-200 in 1 min 15 sec or something like that

btw i got the front clip off and my new big block.. ill get some pics up later

creep 02-28-2011 11:32 AM

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. 200 PSI and 1/2" valves should pop that thing up pretty fast. I actually had to step down to a 165 PSI switch because mine was too fast for me to make subtle adjustments for the horrible roads here in northern Ohio, and I am only using 3/8" valves.

Truck looks badass so far! Love the pictures! Get some pictures of the front after the Spindles are installed. I have a 66 Long Fleet as well and will be bagging soon. Thanks!

P.S. What size tires are you running??? Do you happen to know how wide your stock steelies are, 6 or 7" width?

do you have any clearance issue between frame and trailing arms? im currently baggin my 66 and didnt know if you had to build a long notch for the arms to clear or not

well i built my notch so that it wouldnt lay frame..my rear end hits on the bottom of the notch just before the frame touches the ground. right now the crossmember is holding it up but im gonna either buy one or make one.. not sure yet.. but anyway once i get a different crossmember it should have the frame bout 1/2 inch off the ground or so and still have a lil clearance for the trailing arms..btw i made some 3 3/4 inch drop blocks... you have to have that to get the clearance otherwise the trailing arms will hit the frame
