Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Does it have a jump seat on the passenger side? How cool!
I hope you keep that Wurden Fire Dept. emblem on it :) B |

It looks like it was used as an ambulance as well. I am probably going with the Fire dept. lettering again when finished which is quite a ways off for paint. |
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.

OK, those are better yet. I didn't know what parts you had to work with but it sounds like you have some parts plus a bit of experience as well.

Got the motor mounts done. Dident like the idea of putting the 1" block under the top support to the frame so we did a little remodeling, 2 notches out of the side at the bends and bend together after a few fitting trys welded it back together cut off the top bolt holes and made new holes. Fits great and looks original I will get some installed pictures in later we want to try and put the engine in today hopefully.

That is basically what I am doing. Added a crossmember to adjust where the supports go an fits perfect. |

Thought we could put the engine in today but ran into a snag.
The Novak hydraulic clutch slave cylinder setup needs to have a long throw out bearing so I need to get that before putting the engine in as we want to adjust it on the floor. |

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
[QUOTE=sirJim;7976192]Interesting to see the original tank. Mine had a curved tank to make room for the spare tire. But the shipping company butchered that one.[/QUO
My spare is laying on the floor inside. I have a bracket that screws to the sidewall when I don't have the big 2nd seat in. It's something the original owner made. |

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
We got a bit of wiring done last night.
Carb installed, Radiator off to have the thermostat switch bung welded in for the electric fan. Have to do a make shift exhaust in the first stages to get it thru DMV, look at doing it right down the road.:mm::mm: |

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Not much to report. Had a problem with the throwout bearing I got, the Chinese made was about 5mm to long my buddy whiped it into shape on the lathe after pressing the bearing off, And of course remove and replace the trans.
Did some work on the break lines to the new master cylinder Along with one of the rear lines the shipping co squished and hooked up the break pedal. Now we need to find a break hose for the slave cylinder set up out of something we can get here. Slowly coming along.:mm: |
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Progress is progress no matter how small at times.

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Well finally found the break hoses one for the rear that is long enough and one for the clutch which we will try to get installed today. The spring on the clutch pedal is a pain to get off which is need to get the bolt thru on the clutch pedal. May end up just taking the instrument panel out to get some tug on it.:mm:

Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Brakes are all set, bled them and seem to be working great. Got the distributor in.
Have to do something to preserve the wood it is in great shape, any advice? |

Few pictures of the last couple days work. Brake lines and hoses, Hyd. clutch lines and hoses with mount from Astro van.
|
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Got the clutch pedal all in and adjusted, electric fan wiring almost done, gas tank out for the filler spout to be soldered in. getting closer all the time, need to make plug wires and should be ready to fire up soon.:mm:
|
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Be careful soldering on that gas tank :)
|
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Dont worry it is a new tank. Just need to move the spout and plug the hole. I want to keep the baffel in the right direction and it was for a rear fill.
|
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Got the plug wires made and put in.
Battery cables are on need to do the throttle linkage. Gas tank is soldered up need to install. Little bit at a time.:chevy: |
Re: 62 Burb project in the making.
Cleaned out the back so I could check the fit for the middle seat (Astro van) and plan the frame, fit well enough for a beer break to try the height out.
Almost got the rear shocks on but had a problem taking out the old bushings which fit much better than the Chinese ones that came with the shocks. Got the rubber mounted on the tank almost ready to mount it up. Got the air cleaner on, getting close to starting it up, throttle linkage is getting there. Slowly getting there. will try to get some pictures next time.:mm: |
