Here is a photoshop rendering of what mine will hopefully look like by the end of Summer 2011. It is currently in a kazillion pieces undergoing a frame off restoration. The truck is one of the board members, can`t remember who, just changed the paint scheme to what I am going to do.

John, Would this be considered a dealer option? There is an A/C round turn switch below the dash on the driver's side. It's small and has A/C in the center of the switch itself. Thanks guys! Love all the Suburbans posted so far! I want to find some heavy duty tow hooks for the front like dougo has on his 'burb. Also going to see if my power window kit from Brothers will work on this beast. Keep 'em coming! |

Our '70 K10 driver. Or it was, at least, until a couple weeks ago when the tired engine gave up. Good machine shop located, hoping to have it back on the road in March...

As with most all of us trying to squeeze work, family, home projects, Jeep projects, Vintage Airstream project I have not done as much on the "punch list" as I would have liked. Attached the pdf. build sheet and "1971 bill of sale", do not know how that will view (have original yellowed originals). Do not have the window sticker though. All matching numbers, Gear Vendors over/under drive is the only thing other than later GM rims with beauty rings that it did not come out of Flint with. Originally purchased in Utah. Next post |
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
this suburban was a 5 year father-son project, wich included alot of time and learning for the both of us. it started life as a 2wd and we had a image of what we wanted it to look like 4wd,so first came another suburban just for the frame, then came the d60 front axel, 14bolt rear mounted to custom made 12" lift springs, next was the tci turbo 400, 205 t case, and then there is the big one, 502ramjet motor, custom interior with oak slat cutom made wood floor, all leather inside. this build was truly fun and very well worth doing. try to get u some more pics

Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
Joe,
I love your 'burb and flooring but my beast will be doing work with a touch of class and I really love what you have done to the floor. :metal: Just give me some idea how you pulled that job off. |
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
Well, I put a new tire on my suburban!
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...b/DSCN0829.jpg Or I shredded a 35 monday morning on the way to work and threw a spare on the front. Surprisingly it still tracks straight! I knew the tires were dry rotted when I bought the truck but hoped they would work until I finished the cummins swap. So I'm going down to DRMO tomorrow to see if I can bid on some HMMWV tires and trade my aluminum 16s wheels with a buddy who has steel 16.5s and wants my wheels. |
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
@lowrollin70gmc.
I like your plan on the tires! Considering your line of work, I figured you could easily get some good tires that would look great on your burb. Be sure to post up pics of your burb with her new shoes! |
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
This is a repost from different thread I thought you guys would find interesting:
Found out with Sammy's help this was used by US Army Corps of Engineers. Dating from 1995-1999 is the last stickers on the back of the rear view mirror. Very interesting history this truck has lead |

I've been looking for Burb for a couple of years now and wanted a 4x2. After looking at this thread a few times I'm really starting to think there may be a
4x4 Burb in my future. I do realize and respect how much time and money go into doing one of these with the jacked up stuff but I would prefer to do mine like the original with the factory buckets and console and a set of 6 bolt rally wheels, which I already have and maybe put a 68 front clip on as I love the front end of the 67/68 trucks. I'm dealing on this one in Minnesota and as usual it took the owner two wekks to return my call and I've been waiting 3 days now for the more detailed pictures he was going to send the next day. I bootlegged the attached pics from the CL ad and that is why they are small. |
Re: Show me your 4x4 Suburbans!
Well join the club man!
I knew if I was going to own a Suburban it had to be 4x4 and not a wimpy 4x2. :mm: Hoping to really enjoy it soon and then slowly restore it when time and money permits. All the advise I can give you on your future project is this: 1. Find the most expensive one you can afford. Less restoring and more enjoying. 2. Slowing restore to your tastes not anyone elses! 3. Then Enjoy the heck out of it and use it how it was intended to be used! Quote:
