I am at about the same point in my '66 build. Got a 5.7 TBI/700r4 in it with painless wiring. Starting to do suspension and 4 whl discs now. Would love to trade out my barn doors for clamshell, if anyone is interested.

Got out the spot weld cutter and drilled out all the welds on the rockers.I was very happy to find how good the inner rockers and pillars were in. I'll blast the firewall, jams and drip rails tomorrow and shoot epoxy primer on it while im waiting on some patch panels.

I been working on the shotgun side.Got the door hung although it will come off and on many more times. the inner rockers and floor is finished.I removed the fresh air box for repairs,if anyone has a parts truck with one in good shape and wants to sell me that pc. let me know.
|
Re: 66 suburban build
Great progress so far man! I'll be watching your thread so I can learn about all the "little" stuff for when I tear my 'burb apart.

I got off early today and decided I would remove the upper windsheild panel.I drilled out 88 spot welds. I started peeling off the rusted out panel and naturally found a rat nest.I cleaned it out and discovered a calender from 1968 in the roof opening.I love to find stuff in old cars, kinda tells a story.

I gotta ask though, your fresh air box, was there alot of gunk in the bottom of it when you got it off there? |

Had a day to work on the burb,so we focused on one side at a time.Knocked it down to the metal, pulled a few dents and epoxy primed in 6 hrs. I still can't believe how good shape this thing is in.
