What Carb and Intake Do Ya Use?

I've been brainstormin for awhile about the combo that I'm putting on my 350 and thought it would be cool to know what everyone here is running on your 350's. I'm kinda wondering about cfm ratings on carbs too. Post what ya got, brag em up a little. :metal:

Robert1970C20rstbukt 05-13-2005 11:21 PM

I'm running the original 4bbl intake, with a quadrajet carb from my uncle's old '76 2wd Blazer. I'm guessing it's about a 600cfm carb.

Stocker 05-13-2005 11:31 PM

Dunno what the flow rating is for my oem q-jet (huge secondaries, though), but it's been rebuilt several years ago and still works very well. I would likely still have the oem intake on it, but it cracked (underneath) and that was a good excuse to buy an Edelbrock 2101. With flattops and a mild rv cam, everything's nearly stock and 87 octane is just fine, thankyouverymuch! :)

i got an edelbrock RPM performer intake and a edelborck 1407 750 cfm electric choke. pics in the link in my sig

powell72 05-14-2005 12:50 AM

I've got a Weiand intake and a Edelbrock 1406 carb(600cfm electric choke). You can't go wrong with a Q-jet or Edelbrock, they are set and forget carbs. Holleys make more power but require a little more maintenance. Just my .02.

1STtimePRo'71 05-14-2005 12:55 AM

I wonder If I got the best of both worlds. I just got a Holley rebuilt Q-Jet. Rochester casing and Holley Inerds. Cheap too.

boraxman 05-14-2005 02:14 AM

Edelbrock RPM performer intake and a Holley Street Avenger 670...works great.

69 Short Fleet 05-14-2005 05:10 AM

^ Nice looking motor! I went with the 1406 and its a great carb except I won't buy another elec. choke type (shd of went with the 1405). Doug

Little 307!

Here is my 307, laugh it up guys! It will not outperform a 350 :but: it gets very good gas mileage and still has no trouble passing at speeds under 75.

Bowtie67 05-14-2005 06:19 AM

Victor Jr & a Barry Grant 650 Mighty Demon, no issues since install & tuned a year ago and still runs great..

Cethern 05-14-2005 05:23 PM

Right now I'm stock on the 72 K5 4bbl Q-Jet and on my 71 stock with a 2bbl.... I have two 1405's a two Offy intakes waitting to go on, I have a set of Vortec heads watting for a intake.
I'm not sure which truck with get that set up yet.

Pilgrim 05-14-2005 07:27 PM

Stock intake and 68 stock quadrajet on my 327.

67-Cowboy 05-14-2005 08:30 PM

454 with oval ports and #1407 Edelbrock on a performer 2-O aluminum intake. I did have a 396 with performer and Holley 650 spreadbore Economaster with adjustable vaccum secondary. But I like these new Edelbrock carbs they are much easier to work on and no gaskets below the fuel level and you can change metering rods etc.. without having to take it apart, besides there is no power valve. Edelbrock has alot of info on their Technical Discussion link that has equations for everything from VE to CFM, Compression Ratio, Flow Bench Conversion Factor, CID, MPH, PRM, Gear Ratio Formula, Tire Radious etc... and some other helpful info.

70c10 05-14-2005 09:03 PM

joelboxt, my combo is my signature. I like the Demon alot. I recently had it tuned by a local racer and it's awesome!. If you are serious about a Demon, I would call them or email them for a recommendation. If you are still stock, the Road Demon Jr. might be good but ask them. :metal:

I'm running an Edelbrock Performer RPM air-gap intake and 1406 carb. I used to like the carb but it is way too small for the heads and cam I put on the engine so I will probably go with a 670 or 700 eventually.

Same here, though I want to go with the Edelbrock Air Gap RPM intake. I hear they make even more power than the Performer RPM.

laplander 05-15-2005 05:08 PM

We just put a Edelbrock Performer intake and 1406 carb on my dad's 350. It works good for what he uses it for.

I'm using a 1405 with the carter mod kit installed on top of an old Weiand single plane high rise. Works great.

tmcgrawlookalike 05-15-2005 11:21 PM

crosswind(air gap) and speed demon 750.purchasing hurricane right now for 70 camaro project, and will be adding demon on it,

fishmunger 05-16-2005 01:56 AM

I've got a Performer RPM with an edelbrock 1806 thunder series 650cfm with electric choke

Hoods69BadBowTie 05-16-2005 06:18 AM

I got a 1406 Eldebrock on my 350 in my '79. I like it except for the electrical choke. Pretty stock 350 from what I can tell. Have a stock Q-Jet on my '81 and it does pretty well, could use a rebuild.
