Engine finished and pics from my first show

After about a year of not having a working truck, I finally had a new engine put in it over the last month. I also got the chance to enter the truck in my first car show, although I didn't place (made me kinda mad, but I guess everyone feels the same way when their vehicle doesn't come in first).

I also had power disc brakes put on the front of the truck, and it makes a world of difference. Nice to be able to stop when you need to.

Anyway, here is a pic from the show, and a pic of the engine.

There's a whole gallery of pictures from the engine buildup located here:

All this great work was done by the guys at M&W Racing. They really did an amazing job. I'll post their info if anyone in the Mass. area needs anything like this done.

That's a fine truck! Can't believe you didn't place. Keep showing it, maybe somebody with some sense will judge.:D

Sweeeeet truck!!!! :metal:

chevyfarmer 09-23-2005 01:49 PM

Nice Set up! Really like the supercharger, something that you do not see everyday. Give it another try at the shows, you have a very nice truck that deserves an award.

Joe67 09-23-2005 01:51 PM

That truck is beautiful - nice work

Great job on the pics too :D

PLavelle 09-23-2005 01:53 PM

Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments! I need to replace the wood in the bed next summer, but other than that I don't know what else could have really hurt me in the show. I was next to a 2004 F&#@ Lightning with big rims, nitrous, and a DVD player, and he placed 2nd.

Beautiful truck...nice job. If it were my truck...and it's not so my opinion is worth what you are paying for it...I would drop it and change the stance and you will probably get a completly different outcome. The paint and engine look excellent but the stance just doesn't do it justice! I can't see the rear wheels...are they different from the fronts? That can cost you big time in points! A set of Torque Thrust II's would look killer on there!

I would love to see some pics of the interior and bed?

:phat: NICE TRUCK, BET IT DOES SWEEEEEEET :burnout:

It looks good to me judge was probably a ford guy. The lightning upgrades could have all be done in 1 Day! Where's the fun in that!

69 Short Fleet 09-23-2005 04:25 PM

Great looking truck, very neat, good job!

The stance, wheels, and bed will be taken care of next year (hopefully). I don't have any money left!

I'll post some pics of the interior when I get a chance. The bed is nothing to look at just yet.

Yeah, they defiinitely could have. I didn't understand it myself, but maybe once I get the rest of the stuff fixed it'll be a different story.

Sweet rig you have there. There's nothing sweeter than a stock 67 grill with shiny chrome trim. That black paint really sets it off.

Dumb question, What are the two filters for on the valve covers?

:agree: Just how fast is it? How much did the SC set you back? Randy

cdowns 09-23-2005 05:30 PM

it's a real clean ride you've got// the one thing i see that could use a bit of rerouting would be your heater hoses and fuel line to really showcase that engine---they really don't like stuff over the valve covers at shows

mocwon 09-23-2005 05:31 PM

Beautiful truck.

Shows are funny, you can win some you don't think you deserve and loose others you should have won. There is a ton of politics in many shows where the good ole' boys are the judges.

It's a fine vehicle you can be proud of.

71HUGGER396 09-23-2005 05:43 PM

Very nice truck.

Yukon Jack 09-23-2005 05:55 PM

That is a beauty. I looked in the album link and one of those pics really shows of the quality of the body/paint! :metal:

Those are K&N air breathers.

llegos 09-23-2005 08:25 PM

im gonna have to agree that wheel gap=just a little to much, especially in back

I think you'll be haulin a lot of trophys once you finish it up.
How does it run now that it's all back together? Engine specs?

N2TRUX 09-24-2005 12:54 AM

Don't get discouraged, that is very nice truck. Shows are funny since most of the time people that judge they have very little experience. Enjoy the fact that stragers walk by passing compliments all day. That's worth much more than a trophy.

The motor upgrade made a big difference and looks and I'm sure performance too... :)

GMC71k20 10-04-2005 07:19 PM

that truck is awesome. hopefully ill see it at a show sometime.
did m&w assemble your new motor?

PLavelle 10-04-2005 08:30 PM

byrd, the supercharger cost about $4,000 alone. I'll be heading to the dyno in a couple of weeks, and I'll let you know what the numbers are.

Stroker, it runs awesome now. So much different than the tired 350 that was in it before. I get a lot more looks with a much louder exhaust now. The disc brakes in the front make it a lot easier to stop, too! I'll put together some specs on the engine for you.

GMC, M & W did all of the work on the new motor, tranny, and front disc brakes. They're great guys and really know their stuff. I'll let you know next time I'm going to be in a show.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I really appreicate it.

GMC71k20 10-04-2005 09:18 PM

you going to new england dyno?

PLavelle 10-05-2005 08:09 AM

I'm going to Dez Racing in Seekonk.

86swb 10-11-2005 11:28 PM

I am just dumbfounded (is that spelled right?) that you did not place. That is one really beautiful clean truck. Are the K&N air filters as good as they say they are? I know they cost more. You really should have placed. IMO
