Magna Flow Exaust

Is anybody running this exaust yet? I just got mine today. Was wondering how you like it, and how the fit and install went? What did you pay for it? Got mine for $420. Seemed like a good deal.

Seems pretty cheap if it's all stainless - is it?

I've always used their mufflers but have always fabbed my own exhausts. That's sweet if it is!

Just the mufflers are polished. I think I will try and polish the pipes up a little before I put it on.

I will try and get a sound clip. It will be going behind a LT1 so I hope it sounds pretty good.

That looks great! Are you running headers? I would like to get the same setup, but currently I'm all stock...wondering how it will hook up.

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

they advertise them as stainless but it can't be too much stainless or a real low grade stainless as a magnet sticks to them pretty good

Yup:( took a magnet to them today. Stuck like glue. I have a Borla exhaust on my camaro. It is high quality no magnet is stickin to it. Magna flow does say stainless on there site as well but not what kind though. I will just have to see how well it holds up. For the price I am still happy though. And it should still last and look better than the steel pipes.

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

yeah magnaflows sound good if there is an xpipe. magnaflows straight through sound like crap imo. thats why im going with flowmaster but if i were doing an xpipe, hpipe, etc i would choose magnaflow for sure!

It is a complete stainless system, as they advertise. Just different grades of steel.Mufflers should be 304 stainless. The tubing you have there is 409 stainless, which has a much higher metallic content. Thats why the magnet stuck like glue to it. You're still much better off than an aluminized mild steel system A complete 304 stainless system would probably run around $ 800-1000.

mplex2000 04-29-2006 10:39 AM

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

Looks like I won't be buying that one then. I can do one in all 304 for a little less, including using their x pipe and stainless header reducers. Can't decide if I want to dump in front of axle or get some nice tips and go out in front of the rear wheels..

I've always liked the magnaflow ovals, has anyone used the round ones? Looking at the 6 inch diameter in either 14 or 16 inch length.

I want some good noise, but not a rediculous amount..

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

I have a Magnaflow system on order and it should be here next week. I will be installing it on my truck with a new set of Hooker headers. I am interested to see how it fits and sounds.

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

You could have the pipes locally ceramic powder coated for ~100. Do it in high luster silver and it will look great, emit less heat, and not rust unless scratched.

Hey Guys - Any updates on the installs?

Classic Trucks or Custom Classic Trucks has a feature on this exhaust system featured in this months magazine. I will try to get a link later.

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

Found the classic trucks install online...seems pretty cool, but the headers are a bit pricey. I'm sure they are worth it though.

x pipe and straight pipes sound sweet...not to loud...but a sweet rumble

Re: Magna Flow Exaust

The only thing I don't like is the X-pipe right below the trans pan. That would make a trans service suck more than they already do.
