two tone tape line location??

Im back to considering two tone black and white. i want it done the way the factory had it, but im not sure where the top tapeline would go. it looks like it is just below the door handle for the 81+ models.

is there a spec, or template or some way of knowing that its in the correct location?

it will be black with a white center and white on the back&top of the cab.

Re: two tone tape line location??

the later model trucks had a different two tone line. the lower line was near the middle of the fuel door, and the upper line is near the bottom of the door handle...

thank you very much for posting though, its nice of you to help!

Well basically the line is right under the handle. I think the best way would have some one give you the messurements. I wish i could be of more help. Your tuck should look cool in that color combo.

Re: two tone tape line location??

I was thinking of painting my '84 with the two tone demarcations in the same place as the pre-81 two tone paint jobs. Anyone have pics of trucks painted like that?

Re: two tone tape line location??

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. The truck in the first pic is a 79. I was wondering if anyone had used the old two tone scheme on an 81 up truck. Thanks!:)

thanks, yours looks very cool too.i think we go for similar looks.i never really noticed the difference in the size of stripes on two tones of each year.might be kind cool if somebody did a 70's stripe on an 80's truck or vice versa.

I've been pondering whether I want to use the trim to frame the two-tone or just go with pinstriping. Hadn't decided yet. Plan is to do Charcoal top and bottom with black in the middle. I'm redoing the interior at the moment, so it'll probably be a good while before I get to paint.

thanks man

4.5"/5.5" drop

FRONT:
3" DJM spindles
1.5" western chassis coils

REAR:
5"ish western chassis flip kit

i'll be going lower though, swapping out the wc coils for some 2" coils and adding 2" shackles in the back for a complete 5/7 drop.

the wheels are 17x8" and i'm running 255/50/17's on all 4 corners.

Born & raised Yakima. 50 years young & counting. Always thought of the west side as being wet... Yakima only gets 6-7"'s of precip. a year "desert" so we're the dry side, comparatively speaking.
Here's a pic of my truck, got it two summers ago from a guy down in the Portland, OR area. The picture I'm posting was on the ad when I found the truck. It still looks the same on the outside but I want to repaint it in the future.
Since purchasing, I've put in Covan dash with Autometer gauges. 69 woodgrain wheel "reproduction".
I'm currently working on some engine compartment things right now, cleaning up detailing, putting in some Zoops pulleys with correct align brackets and some other chrome & billett goodies. It's not running at the moment but hope to have it back up and going soon. When it's done I'll post more pics.
I've owned a couple 77 short boxes in my time, 1 4X4, 1 Step side that I bought new in 77 and this one. Good to be here with all you guys

God Bless, Terry

honestly, i'm not certain what colors they are, it was repainted in late '05. the original colors are the same as the pics 84 400 posted, but my truck now is a slightly different shade of light blue.

Brown/White part looks like a '56 Chevy auto two-tone scheme. I like it! (Of course, I have a '55 Chevy, so I'm partial to the tri-5s)

Re: two tone tape line location??

maibe you schould make it like on the first corvette the shape of the truck is too square for the round shape at the end of the bed i think you should stop in front of the rearwheel and go back to the front
the top part of the white roof thing might work too on its self
