What the heck is a C92 Dome/Cargo light?
 

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen one of these before it is on ebay:

I have never seen or heard of one of these, does anyone else have one or has seen one? How many were made?

I've never come across one.

Wow . My 77 Bonanza has one of those in it . The thing is BRIGHT ! I figured it was some aftermarket interior light . It is a little ugly but it is soo bright that I decided to leave it in since I hardly ever looked up at it anyway . It is neat to know it is a factory piece and what it does . Frank

Id say id buy it for my truck but its kinda dumb when i have an out side light and inside light anyway. cause it does both flips down to look out back windoe no need for outside back light.

I noticed the light when I bought my 77 but I never thought it was a factory interior light . Like I stated above , I decided to keep it because it works soo well . Finding out it is somewhat rare and that it swings down as a cargo light is just neat . I gaurantee that if you had one , you would like it because of all the light it puts out . It not that ugly installed . Ken , I might have to bid against you just for the sake of having a replacement . Frank

I wonder if they are really that rare or if people just dont know what they are . I didnt .

If the original lens is in good shape, I suppose one could cast a mold and use it to produce some lens, even some in different transparent colors.

The C92 option got me thinking. What if instead of a cargo light, it had a Third Brake (LED) light integrated into the unit. And, it would only operate in the ‘swing down’ mode. In this mode, the LED bar would just peek out from under the top of the rear window. The dome light would only operate in the ‘closed’ position. Sum’thing like this:

kind of a neat idea, but you'd have to create something to seal around it, or you'd get the reflection off of the back glass. not real clear on how it works, but i would think that it might hinder its performance as a dome light.

im top bidder at 3 hours left my top bid is 45.95 so i can be bought and shipped at a total of 50.00 buck not bad for a rare peice.

dang i lost i was going to take it apart and make molds out of eash peice so the part wouldnt be so rare. O well lost by dollar

like i mentioned earlier,i'd be real careful leaving the door open at night on the truck your gonna put that on.you'll draw every big moth in arkansas in with that bugger.ya'll do got moths back home don'tcha;)

its cool ill look at my freinds farm hes got two of our trucks sitting in a field ill see what i can find after my ride is on the road again. (one a late 70s other is a earily 80 .. sound i might find it cents it was for a 1976-1983 product i beleive)

It's the skeeters ya gotta worry about boatpuller! I copied the ebay short cut a few days ago. Pulled up my junk yesterday and thought....I'll bid $50 and see what happens. WoW! Got it, only to kinda feel bad after reading this post again. Scruby, sorry man, if I don't use it I'll give you first shot at it. My truck didn't come with the cargo light and just thought this was kinda neat to have esp. since I have a sliding window. We will see.

cool no problem i might find another on and if not o well some things are better off left rare and hard to find. Thinks for givin me first dibs and it shoulsd work great in a no cargo light truck.

My truck has the dome and cargo light out side had one thought of making the original cargo light a 3rd break light (like i read someone was doing) and make that my inside out side light.

Plus i still need to learn to make plastic molds i have designed many things for older cars but dont have the molds il see what happens
