My see ten wannabe pics!
Let me first say that I realize these pics aren't remotely close to being see ten worthy, but seeing his pics has set me on fire to start taking pics of my trucks in front of cool backdrops and old buildings. My elcheapo camera is not up par, and I realized after seeing my big shadow in several that I gotta long way to go. I also know I gotta get my drop springs ordered to rid of the redneck rake, and I gotta lose the pizza cutter tires!:whine:
With that being said, I was coming home today and when I passed the dam, I realized I had my camera in the truck. I stopped off and took a few pics, but it was that time of the evening that looks funky and it has been cloudy all day also. I love the way this place looks in the Spring before it grows up, and I will definitely be going back when the truck is ready and I get better camera. I guess my favorite is the front shot in front of the old powerhouse. Anyway, I hope ya'll enjoy! http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d...ictures464.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d.../69c10dam3.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d.../69c10dam2.jpg http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/d.../69c10dam4.jpg |
Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
BTW, the trees on the other side are in Georgia, because the dam is across the Chattahoochee!

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!

You can never go wrong with pics on this board, everyone is a picture hound here

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Those are some nice pictures, I think you east coasters have a lot better back drops than the west coast. I to like see tens pictures, infact the one of the green 4x4 with the hills in the background on a gravel road is is my screen background.:)

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
With a little color fixin' they look even better - but man - that is one nice truck!
I love it! I would absolutely love to have a truck like that! Stock height and all. Only reason I am going to lower mine is because it is so far from that it don't matter. That truck just looks like a truck should. Before: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam1.jpg After: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam1_after.jpg Before: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam2.jpg After: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam2_after.jpg Before: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam3.jpg After: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam3_after.jpg Before: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam4.jpg After: http://slickorange.com/board/69c10dam4_After.jpg DLB |

I played with the one I like best as well. Take a look at your pics and note your mistakes. Next time you venture out remember the mistakes and improve on them. It's hard to get a great background, good lighting, and the perfect angle every time.
Here's a few tips I have learned from the pro's. The hours right after sunrise, or right before sunset are great for shooting automotive subjects. Make sure your subject is the primary focus in your picture. Backgrounds should be secondary. Always watch for tall objects that will appear to be "growing" out of the vehicle. When shooting angles, a good 3/4 view is the "money shot". A good example is the pic below. If you had taken one step to your right, and had the wheels slightly turned so the rim was exposed, this would be a classic 3/4 view. |

I'd love to roll that truck - looks great

Ok, I couldn't help it. I stopped back by there today, and got some more these are a little, but now instead of being too light, they are a little dark. I also snapped one in front of the old Glass Church on Whitesmill Road. This is the oldest church in our area, and dates back to circa 1830. Fairfax is the name of the town now, but it used to be Glass, AL. There are some awesome old farm houses on that road that I may use later!;)

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Looks good :c2:. I like the shot in front of the church. The sharp contrast in color helps make the vehicle stand out. The only subject that has much color in that picture is your truck so it immediately jumps out at you. Maybe it's because there isn't so many distractions in the background???

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Good job the first time and even better the 2nd time around! I shoot a lot of low shots but I'm trying not to get stuck in a rut and have tried a couple from a higher angle.

Yeah it's from a different forum that doesn't cater to the Ol truckers but the applications will be the same. http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232538 |
Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Thanks for the link see ten. It is very informative! When you do the shots from aboe the truck, are you standing uphill, or are on something? They look great, and I agree it is great to mix it up.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
I have very long arms! No, I did use a ladder for a couple of those pics. I have done some others by simply holding the camera as high up as I can while still able to see the viewfinder.
|
Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
I love the pic you have of all three trucks in the field. It looks they are grazing!
|
Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Great Pics SeeTen. The pictures are great and the trucks are even nicer. Is that green shortbox a new truck of yours? I haven't seen it before.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Not to high jack the thread, But I want to ask what type of camera are you guys using?? mega pixels and such. Because doesn't the camera also have alot to do with How well the picture comes out. See Ten pictures seem to come out crystal clear everytime, but when I take pics it is a crap shoot to see if they will come out good or not.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
I have two different cameras. The newer one is a Kodak Z712IS. It's 7.1 MP with a 12x optical zoom. I bought it mainly for the zoom feature to use on vacation. My older camera is a Kodak Z760. It's a 6.1 MP but it seems to take better low light shots. It also has more adjustability of the shutter speed.

Re: My see ten wannabe pics!
Some great shots there 67_c30. Yours too See ten, as always, and remember to practice "ladder-safety"

awesome shots 67_C30! you're lucky to have alot of old historical places to and the like to use as backgrounds. i think it adds tot eh feel of the picture, especially when one of our old trucks is the subject. great tips in here as well! maybe someone should write a FAQ for shooting truck pics? eh? eh? lol. :hm: -Sam. |
