Project B.A.D. under way

I haven't been able to get on here as much as I would like due to weather and being very busy. But any how here are some pics of my new project. I can't figuire out what to call it except this, Big A** Diesel. Right now it has 10" suspension lift and 3" body. It will have 16" total suspension lift in a few weeks. It has 52" Michelin XZL's on it with 20x10 Mickey Thompson Classic 2's. It will have a 1991 Suburban dual plastic head lamp front clip with a steel cowl hood. It will be powered by an intercooled rotary pump 5.9 and it will have a MT653 Allison transmission. I am thinking i am going to paint it the same color the cab is now. It is called black cherry if I remember right. It will have 6" turn out stacks, traction bars, and maybe some DVD player or two. I want to build custom bumpers for it like road armor style, but we'll have to see how much time I have. In the first pic my younger brother is standing next to it. He is 6' 2". I can't wait to get this thing running and go for a spin in it. Here are some starter pics. Let me know what you think.

So what are your plans for how you plan to use this truck is it going to be a daily driver on the city streets or a trails rig or some kind of monster truck?

It's pretty dang big i hope your axles will be able to take the abuse that those heavy tires will place on them cuz they look a bit too light duty to me.

Good lookin' project tho.

Good luck.

might want to consider cross over steering on that thing...

Re: Project B.A.D. under way

Holy crap that thing is huge!!! Some more lift is definately in order. I used to think that the 82 K20 that I had was big back when I had 44s on it. 44s were the biggest size that you could get back in those days. I never thought that they'd ever make anything any bigger but I sure was wrong! I can already hear drivetrain and suspension parts begging for mercy! Cool truck. Be sure to post up progress pics as you go. Can't wait to see how this one turns out! ...Joe

Re: Project B.A.D. under way

Thanks everyone. It has a Dana 44HD in the front right now. But I am replacing it with a Ford Dana 60 with king pins and cross over steering. The rear is a Dana 70. Now I am considering putting dually hubs on the front and a dually rear axle so the tires will not hit the frame when I turn the steering. From what it looks like they won't turn very far right now. My intentions with this truck are just to drive it on the street. I just want to have a huge truck for cheap and enjoy it for a little while and then sell it. I have friends with trucks this big they wheel with, and they break a lot and are very hard to get out of the mud. This thing will be way heavy and is long and I imagine will be horrible on a trail.

Re: Project B.A.D. under way

I know this is an old thread, but I decided I would update on the truck a little bit. Since the last pictures, I installed 6" more lift and a 5.9 cummins is sitting in the frame. I also installed a Sterling 10.25 dually rear end and I just picked up an 04 F250 D60 front diff for it. I did have a 79 ford D60 bolted in the truck, but that axle turned out to be junk. Here are some pics of it with Iveldesign's truck under it this past Saturday night.

I thought I would bring this back to the top. I'm going to start work on this truck sometime this weekend and try to get the engine and trans mounts built. My goal is to have this truck at the All truck nats in September. I will get progress pics as they happen.

That's what I'm shooting for. If the weather will cooperate on Sunday, I'm going to try to get the engine and trans secured in the frame.
