Check out the 67 link in my signature....This was a one off assembly I built for a 14 Bolt Full Floater. The operation of a watt-link is super-precise, with 0 side to side movement at all. Up and down, the axle remained within a 1/64"

Re: Watts link info

That's great news . I will lookinto getting one . From what you are saying it should solve my problem without cutting my truck . Any opinons on which one . I have seen the KP one , it is well within my skill set to intall . The crazy thing is the one from Totaly polished is the same money , and yes it is fully polished unit . but welding and some skills I dont have are needed .
The other question is I cant seem to find contact info on the KP site to find out how much clearance i need from my dif to the fuel cell which i have mounted between the rails .
Anyone know /
Thanks again

Re: Watts link info

The KP unit is a quality product that will bolt-up to the 12-bolt.

I didn't know the TP was the same price....nice piece there too.

Regardless, the watts is the way to go !!!

Let me know if I can be of more assistance.

kp components

totally polished

speedwaymotors Some guys have used this one, but you'll have to do some fabricating to make it fit.

Re: Watts link info

I put the KP link in my blazer this weekend. I had to modify the crossmember in front of the gas tank. and extend the flexible brake line. crossmember mod should not be needed on a truck from what I've been told.

Re: Watts link info

FYI, KP link is not totally bolt on if your frame is not boxed. You need to weld a plate on the frame (box it in) on each side.

Did installing that KP setup totally eliminate your side to movement . I have 1 " or less tire clearance at ride hieght .
Thanks

I'm still in the process of finishing the install. I need to do some more measurements and adjusting the link bars, but I expect to see no side to side movement. The theory of the watts link is zero side to side movement. I'll let you know after next weekend what the actual results are. I'm optimistic.

When I called about the adjustable panhard bar they said that there was only 1/2 inch of side to side movement throughout the travel. The watts should be much less if any.

thanks for the response , good luck next weekend . How much was the kit ?

Like I mentioned before....there is NO side to movement at all.....

Absolutely none !!

CHeck out this F-150 I did a while ago...

This thing has 23" wheels, with less than 1/8" clearance on the side where the fender radius start to drop down. Bagged, with custom cantilevers and watts link

No rubbing...constant axle locating thru ENTIRE suspension travel...

Re: Watts link info

In the new Sport Truck they have a article about how to properly set up a watts link and panhard bar... I referred to it a couple times. Like at half travel the "pivot arm" should be just a little off center and the watts link bars should be horizontal with the ground... I didnt know that.. I dunno it was very helpful to me though

That is correct. I found that out when doing the 14 bolt. If the center is straight up and down, then it'll run out of travel and pull to the side. This was happening with just the bag travel (8")....you would need a little more offset with a canti set-up.

Re: Watts link info

Chief thanks for the clearity . Do you believe with my adjustable panhard bar that I would be safe for clearance . Like i said I have nearly an inch on both sides at one point in the suspension travel . But maybe I am just not adjusting it properly .I am going to order the KP unit if need be but would appreciate your opinion before spending that $ .
I am going to get that Sport Truck Article right away and see if that gives me some info as well .
Thanks again .

ChiefRocka 03-04-2008 08:04 PM

Re: Watts link info

If you have a whole inch on both sides, then I think you would be fine with just a panhard bar.

Center it a ride height, and away you go.

How hard was it too install ? and set up ?

hotrodhomi 03-11-2008 07:07 AM

Re: Watts link info

installing on my blazer was not as straight forward as I expected because of the rear crossmember in front of my gas tank. I had to modify it for clearance. But, I don't think that trucks would have this problem. It was real easy to set up. I would do it again if I had too.

Yes it was KP. I used the 67-72 2wd chevy truck kit, but I used it on my blazer. I had to use the weld on plates that were included in the kit because my frame in not boxed. The kit is only bolt on if you have a step notch or you box your frame. But, it was still fairly easy to install once I relocated my rear crossmember (this step is not need for a truck- I think).

how much is that kit anyway?

Big Irish 03-12-2008 12:49 AM

I was told by Clint it was $399.95 .
