Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
When I replaced that driver's side fender it didn't have a place for the parklamps, so I cut out a hole then welded in a bracket from another fender.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
Put the gas tank back in it today, found a seat from of an 85 blazer for 30$. Finally got the straight 6 to fire which runs great now, after having to take the sending unit out of the gas tank because it was stopped up solid.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
Over the past couple of weeks I have got my corners and rockers welded in. Painted the frame, installed new shocks, new Thrush exhaust, painted rear bumper ...again. Installed new smooth tailgate. Started painting on my engine, still have to paint the inner fenders and firewall and radiator support. Some progress pics . . .

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
You're really making headway on that ol' girl!
I might've missed it, but what're the final plans for the truck. Like..color? etc. Can't wait to see 'er all done up nice man, which from the pace you're going, won't be long at all. -Sam. |
Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
Looking good. Are you going to use the 67-68 hood? If so you'll need a topbar and hoodlatch from a 67-68 GMC also.

You do really nice bodywork. That old truck sure is looking great so far! Can't wait to see it in new paint. Are you going to paint it yourself or have it done? ...Joe

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
You my friend, do not **** around. Nice progress.
I have a few things for you. That red filler you are using isnt good to use. thats kind of old school. It shrinks and causes lines in the paint later. That red oxide stuff here. http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...csnBlduYb0.jpg ANd your my twin.. I have a chevy thats a gmc stepchild.. here is my build... My 71 build. GMC/chevy Good build man... |
Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild

Rally Rims when they were brought home. http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...gzrawNowq8.jpg One of the Rims after sanding and priming. . . http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...Kp4WaIj0J-.jpg Interior Pics (its gotten a little dusty since the new paint) http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...9-f0ChAPD-.jpg http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...rNijtHMM7M.jpg http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...6bhGx-xynW.jpg http://widget.slide.com/rdr/1/1/3/W/...dmZ2CkIGIx.jpg |

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
Used a dent puller then what I couldn't get out used liquid fiberglass to fill the small dents.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
Looks really good and you've been making great time on it.

Re: 1970 GMC Stepside Redbuild
