67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
3 Attachment(s)
I've owned this 67 for about 10 years. I bought it with the best of intentions but after putting a new tranny in, it sat for the next 9 years or so. When I bought it, it had black primer on it. As you can tell from the before pics, the sun, rain, snow, etc. did a number on it. This build (my first) started as a sand and shoot project, just to get some paint on it and go for a rat rod type of look. The further I got into it, the more dents and rust I found. There was just too much truck left there to rat it out completely, but in my opinion, not enough to go for show...so, it's a hybrid! (Before I get a ton of messages on the marker lights, I realize they didn't exist in 67. The cab has the small rear window and is definitely a 67, as for the rest, I really don't know, but that's the beauty of it I guess. I'll post some pics as I go (pretty far along already, but once those pics are up, I'll update as I progress). Any feedback is welcome!

Moving the fuel tank to under the bed. Here's the original hole being filled and smoothed.

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
Hey there 74 C-30...it's way to late to black it and run it! LOL It was in pieces before I knew it. The game plan IS to paint her black though...hot rod flatz black, red pinstripe flame over the front fenders and hood, red and black interior, white top over the truck, 3" wide whites.

And here's the new location of the tank and the filler. The filler will be behind the driver's side rear marker lens. I used an s10 hinge from the junkyard. Cut off everything and left only the hinge. Welded it to 1/4" bar stock on the inside of the fender, epoxied the lens to the hinge.

Hi Kyull, I loved your first ride...so sorry about its terrible demise. I'll be checking out your new build!
Hey Bob, and we aren't even very far apart either! Nice to meet you. :) Thanks a lot TGriffin, I think it'll be a neat addition. Spray-Bomb, appreciate the feedback...but if I smoothed it and filled in the lights, I wouldn't be able to put any gas in! ;) Here are some update pictures... |

Here's the cab primed and then the top white, the back hot rod flatz black, followed by the front clip in primer...and check out my new babies! - I ordered some smoothies from Wheel Vintique, baby moons and beauty rings, had the wheels powder coated in Red Barron and also ordered 3" wide whites from Diamondback.

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
as you can see through the window in the last few pics, the interior is back in...I'll snap some photos of that as well. Next order of business, red over the front clip and doors, laying out the stripes, then black over top of that...updates to come!

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
Here's some of the interior...inner doors, jams and inside the cab sprayed with the black flatz, door panels and dash with the red that the stripes/flames will be done in.

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
Whats a Haggan cap?
|
Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
Sorry, I spelled it wrong Lucky. The company is Hagan Street Rod Necessities. Given the fact that it would be tough to reach into the side marker opening and unscrew the cap, I needed something like a quick fill/race cap. Hagan sells one called a "fill through" cap that has a hinged flap on the cap, all you do is stick the fuel nozzle through it, when you remove the nozzle, the cap closes.

Re: 67 SWB Stepside - Old School Style
Well I'm happy that you've been elevated to fully stoked now Spray-Bomb...I suppose now I'll be nice and refrain from mocking your funny accent.

Thanks GC, I do know Virgil and Holly, not sure if that's the ones you know. Played in a band with him for years. I'm sure there's a lot of Hansen's around though!
