Nothing removed from truck. I 'll give you guys a couple days of guessing before I post a times. This was a 6cyl 3 speed truck what gear should it have? |
Re: What do you think this ran
im guessing with the sixer the gear was Alittle Lower then usual?.....
Im guessing a 12.9xx |
Re: What do you think this ran
I think the rear gear is key to guessing how this stock set-up would perform, but I'll guess 15, based on a highway gear.
|
Re: What do you think this ran
Im gonna say 9.8 @ 70 mph in the 1/8. Chris.
|
Re: What do you think this ran
Still the manual 3speed?
If auto, how big of a stall? |
Re: What do you think this ran
turbo 350 2000 stall
|
Re: What do you think this ran
60' --- 2.12
1/8 --- 8.82 @ 81.4 1/4 --- 13.76 @ 98.7 |
Re: What do you think this ran
pretty tough with the limited info there Kevin,, but I'll bite
14.2's at around 85-90ish mph,,, guessing it had 3.73 gears from the era which seems was common with manuals and straight 6's,, but if it was one of the hwy gear trucks (3.0x gears,,, closer to 14.9's or more would be my guess. |
Re: What do you think this ran
Well I'm guessing it must have run pretty good if you are posting. My truck had a similar setup but with 3.42 instead of the original 2.73 and it ran mid-14s. So I would guess 13.9 @ 98.
My truck was an oringinal 6 cyl, 4 speed and it had the 2.73 rear gears. |
Re: What do you think this ran
am i the only one with faith in the peg legger(ok i was generous but whatever)
is the action plus a dual plane intake? and is the xe262 a flat tappet or roller? I want to see pictures of said truck:lol: |
Re: What do you think this ran
dualplane and hyd cam
|
Re: What do you think this ran
Mid 15's 1/4... High 9's 1/8...
|
Re: What do you think this ran
14.7
|
Re: What do you think this ran
With a correct peg leg dual burn out and air pressure adjustments . 13.95 @ a tad under 100 .
|
Re: What do you think this ran
I'll say around 9.00-9.10 @ 80 and 14.00 @ around 92 or so.
As far as the gear is concerned, I was under the assumption that most of the 6-cyl/ 3spd manual trucks came with 3.73s. |
Re: What do you think this ran
So when do we get to know the time :D

|
Re: What do you think this ran
We think the truck has a 3.42 gear but not sure. It turns about 2700 at 70 mph with the 28 inch tire.
Best 1/4 ET @ mph: 14.74@91.55 Best 1/8 ET @ mph: 9.46@75.02 Best 60 ft: 2.202 on Radials Engine: 350 Transmission: TH-350 we are planning on doing a 383 with fast burn heads and a posi of course. |
Re: What do you think this ran
i gonna say 13.80 @ 80 ish.

Re: What do you think this ran
I am the owner of said truck. When I got home this afternoon, I checked
the ratio 43 tooth ring gear and 14 tooth pinion gear so it is a 3.08. What do you guys think it will do with a posi and 3.73 rear gear? |

Nice truck! Welcome to the board.
|
Re: What do you think this ran
welcome to the board Jason. I have located my old 377 short blockout of my old white truck! We might be able to get it cheap!
|
Re: What do you think this ran
welcome to the board . I guess i was gambling it had a 3.73 . Nice truck .
|
Re: What do you think this ran
Nice looking truck!
|
Re: What do you think this ran
The 3.08s are probably helping you launch better since you have the peg leg. I would guess that the 3.73 would make traction hard to come by. Although if you get a good launch then you could cut a couple tenths off I imagine.

Re: What do you think this ran
I will be picking up a complete rear
end out of a 68 truck with a posi unit and 3.73 gear. I am just going to swap axles if possible. Some say it is others say no go. But we will soon see. I will post new times when I get it all swapped. Thanks for all comments it is a work in progress. |
Re: What do you think this ran
Good looking truck Jason. But it was faster than that when it had the 305!
|
Re: What do you think this ran
come on now Sam I'd rather have a sister in a whore house that a brother with a 305!
Welcome to the board! |
Re: What do you think this ran
Jason said the 305 has made him a great boat anchor. Heck I did'nt even know he had a boat!!! Thanks for the welcome Kevin. Jason just messing with you. You really have that truck getting up pretty good. I went by the old house today to see if the rear end was still there, it was! Give me a shout when you are ready. Later Sam

Re: What do you think this ran
I will talk to ya about picking up the
rearend tommorow. The 305 is actually in a 55 chevy bel-air right now being used as a mock up motor. Thats the only thing it is good for now after it came apart on me at about 5500 rpm. |
Re: What do you think this ran
It would be nice to know what it would have run at the track with the "mock-up motor" Ha Ha. Just to compare !!
