Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
I would like to see pics of everyone static drops no matter how radical or ghetto they are. I'm thinking about buying a 5/7 drop kit from a supplier, but wanted to see one on an actual bodystyle like ours first. All I get is pics of 67-72 trucks. Also, can you guys shoot me in good directions for kits. All I have found is one supplier for the 5/7" drop. Thanks.
It would be cool if you guys had before and after too. |

What was the setup in the second picture? The third picture - what did you do? Put the rear back to stock and slam the front? Are those 20's?

here is my 66.. REAR: Custom boxed and welded c-notch 5 inch drop springs/drop shocks/custom panhard bar with custom mounts/ 3 inch blocks.. Total of 8 inch static in the rear.. Going to put in 250 pounds of lead on my frame for a total of 9 in rear.. FRONT: 2 inch drop coil.. (I think) somewhere between 2 and 3 in the front..
Drives?? Like butter.. power steering and disc brakes.. Stop, steers and goes down the road like a cadi. Love it.. Some done by me and the rest by Drop Shop in Portland. |
Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

BIRD7263 - Do you have problems with the back end bottoming out over bumps or down the feeway? I like ho your wheels are tucked under the stepsides.. what are the wheels and tire size? Are they just some stock steel wheels off of? |
Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!

Rear u bolts and blocks can be made for about 40-60 bucks. I have mine made at 11 inches. That allows for a 3 inch block. I also have 4 inch lowered coils in rear and cut front coils.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Chevytrucknut - Man the wheels on both of your trucks is what ive been searching for. Where do I get a set? The wheels on the black truck look killer. Do you have a side shot of the orange truck? I like the centers on it.
|
Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Thanks...the wheels are vette style ralleys. The black truck has the "police" centers and the other has the vette/chevelle style. The wheels are made by vintage wheel and they are available at many tire shops.15x8's with 225/60 in front 15x10's with 275/60 out back.

Now for my wheels.. They are stock steel 15 inch wheels off of a 71 impala. Then I bought 3 1/8 bullet center caps off of ebay for $20 Drop coils.. Just start looking around.. Several companies make them.. They are all over Ebay.. Some times if you type in 67-72 it makes them easier to find.. Like chevytrucknut said.. You can make your rear 3 inch blocks easy.. I have a guy here in Portland that makes the steel blocks for $10 and then the Makes the u-bolts for around $40.. Easy way to keep your stock ride and budget good.. I could have ya a set made and shipped if you want.. |

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Nothing special on mine. 2" blocks in the rear and the front torsion bars backed off a bit in the front to level it out. All done by PO.
I would like to go a little a lower in the future, but I have never done any suspension work before and may need a little advice from you guys.... http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...%20GMC/002.jpg http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...%20GMC/003.jpg |

Attachment 429885 Attachment 429886 Here 'ya go. 2.5" Drop spindles, 5" Drop rear springs, no c-notch. Shock relocation brackets and a super track bar (adjustable). All from Early Classic Enterprises.I put the biggest sway bars I could find on it. It handles like a go-cart. A little rough in the rear. The front is fine. 15x8 wheels front and rear. 275-60 front, 295-50 rear tires. I had 160 pounds of railroad track in the rear of the frame rails, but just took it out to put in the fuel cell. |
Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Forgot to add, 1" lowered springs in the front, too. 3.5" & 5" total.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Good looking trucks everybody!
"TheDark1" Do you know the backspacing on your rear wheels? Are the backs 10" wide or 8's? "DaddyMack" What are your wheel and tire specs? They look nice. I like the door peep mirrors also. IMight just have to be a copy cat on the mirror. |
Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
They are all 8" wide rims. The back spacing is 4" I think. I'd have to measure to be sure. The rims were bought at Western Auto about 1993 or so. I know I didn't special order them though. I'm trying to find some 10" or 12" wide slots for the back. The peep mirror I have came from JC Whitney.

American Racing Torqlite wheels. I don't remember if they are 18 x 7 or 8 i actually got rid of the peep mirror and put the big one back on. I think I like the look better, but most of all, I can see. ;) |

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Love your truck Corts!
Beautiful, and those are the tires I want to run on my truck, though I'm leaning toward blackwalls... That said, those white walls make your truck! |

My old 1961 has CPP 4 inch rear drop springs and the torison bars cranked down until they drag on everything in their way. The ride is good but the dragging is bad. If your truck does not have torsion bars
not a problem. This pic is before the rear springs arrived and it is sitting on the bump stops in the rear. |

Add some snow and they drop a little more. But the traction is not so good. Waiting for spring.
