Lets see your seat swaps....
Like the title says. Let see some seat swaps you guys have done on your 73-87 trucks. Preferably bench seats. If you could also post up what the seats came out of and what modifications were required to get them in. Thanks.....

1991 Suburban buckets in a 1978 K10. This is an off-road rig thus the reason for the seat covers and netting behind the seat. If it was a street rig it would have been done much different.
Original bench seat. Old picture from around 1998 right after the automatic to manual trans swap. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1092/...9a8c33.jpg?v=0 Before seat covers and new seat belts. Jan 2009 http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1053/...e8d95b.jpg?v=0 After installing Cabela's TrailGear seat covers...... Great seat covers for outdoor adventures as they are easy to clean. |
Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
flamingbig10: How many Nauga's were skinned to get all the material for your seats? They are little creatures arent they? Look good man!

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
dumb question but can i do a swap using buckets and center out of an 85 k5 blazer? the reason i ask is because the center looks like it could sit real low with the dip under the bench seats just wondering if id have to mock up something to get it to sit at the right height or if it would sit like it does in the blazer? heres the seats and center looks like a good buy what do you guys think? http://tucson.craigslist.org/pts/1265836206.html

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
it'll all fit with the right brackets out of the k5, mostly a straight swap tho ;)
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...k/momseats.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...k/momseat2.jpg have another set for sale, exactly like these, same condition and color with center console, had them in my fleet but liked the bench better. |

"From $1285.00 to $1485.00 per seat" wow, there's gotta be some cheaper "bolt on" aftermarket seats.....there used to be a guy on ebay that started around $500 or so |
Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
Here are my seats. Color is ugly but the price was right ($60).

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
I am considering doing the buckets & console from a Suburban. I found a really nice looking set here local for $125. Just have to convince myself if it is worth it. Right now I can take my wife & one of the 2 kids. If I do the buckets, it's just me and my wife because the kids seats will not safely go in the seat with 2 retractors on the belt. Anybody have thoughts on that one? Are the Suburban seats with having a console really worth loosing the extra seat?

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
hear are mine im doing buckets with a custom center console. the console isent done yet but you can kinda get an idea of how its gona look.

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
Im still tryin ti fig out how to mount them in the truck i made a level bracket . but i cant get how to bolt them down so any ideas please
|
Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
1. mounted the seats to angle iron
2. bent/drilled holes in a 2" piece of flat strap that bolt then bolts to the stock holes in the floor 3. welded angle iron seat mount to flat strap and added gussets for strength |
Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
My uncle put a set of late model Chevy truck heated leather power seats into his 56 Chevy truck. They look the same as the seats in my 2003 Tahoe.
I'm not sure they would fit on the seat hump in our trucks without being too tall but I will take a closer look at the mount bases and see if mounted on a custom frame they would fit. The local wrecking yard only wants $300 each for the leather ones and $350 for a pair of the cloth ones with good air bags. I don't know what kind of repair would be needed for the air bag deployed version but they are only $250 for a pair of them in leather. Next time I get out there to the yard I will take a look at the airbag deployed ones and see what kind of damage that does to them. These seats have the integral seat belt too. |

Seats are from a 1995 Firebird and the console from a 2012 Chevy truck, all mounted to a frame that mounts to the stock bench seat holes.

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
I put in power leather from a 03 tahoe in my wifes crew. The Truck still under construction but at least the floor and seats are ready.

Re: Lets see your seat swaps....
The burban bucket seats will not bolt to the stock pickup floors....the angle of the rear seat track is wrong. I just put suburban buckets in my 86, and I used a LH and RH bench seat track set on each bucket. Then, I had to add a hole on each seat track as well as add a hole for the seat retension spring. Not a lot of work...bit you have to do it to make it right. And, the bench seat tracks are also 5" too long so they need trimmed down. 3 of the 4 seat mount will line up once you tack the front inner standoff seat bracket in place-you need to secure the rear inner track to the floor. Simple method is drill a hole and use a nut/bolt-a better option is to drill a hole for use with a metric rivnut so its a factory look, then just thread a standard seat track bolt down and you're done! I have some pics in the project section under K10 Shorty Revival.
