Rare junkyard burb pics.

4 Attachment(s)
I can't remember the year of this one (63 maybe?) but this is the one i mentioned awhile back. If i can get some time i MAY go pull some parts, but lets not turn this into a parts for sale thread. IF i do this, what parts should i get and what would they be worth? Keep in mind i have to buy the parts and pull them myself.
Thanks for any help and enjoy the pics. Eric

If those sliders in the back have locks on them.. Grab them. I hear they can't be bought repop. Boy things sure do rust in MN.

That AC unit might be worth retrieving (depending what they want for it).

Be sure to get the power steering pump & pulleys! Don't forget the water pump & crank pulleys!

X2 on the items already mentioned. You could definitely resell the items mentioned.....depending on price of course.

Id say all the chrome trim, rear bumper, seats, power brake booster plate, radio, if its a 4 row radiator that may be worth taking, the hold down, rear doors may also be worth somthin, I was told that adaptor plate for the tranny is worth some cash and fuel tank?

Re: Rare junkyard burb pics.

Looking at it again, it looks like that truck is actually in pretty decent shape for parts, if you can afford I think there might be other things as well worth taking, that air cleaner looks in good shape and someone who is doing a period correct restoration might be interested. Also any small parts of the steering columns such as that blinker, it looks old school. Overflow bottle also looks decent from here but hard to judge.

Grab all the stuff previously mentioned, plus that automatic column! The gauge cluster and Deluxe heater controls might be some good ones too. Dang, that is one well optioned 'Burb!

I apologize to the whole group if asking the poster to contact me if that was in any way out of line - I just got excited when I saw the pics...I want to add a lot of that stuff to this GMC burb I have, and have just started looking for it, that's all. My bad. I should have read the club rules closer I guess

Again, very sorry if that was uncool....Thanks!

PS - for future reference, if someone posts that they have found something like this and are debating buying to re-sell, what do we as members do if we are in fact interested? Anyone?

It is easy to get excited about finds like this. In this situation i am trying to figure out if it is even worth my time to part this and try to resell parts. If i go through that, i will start a for sale post on the parts board.
The problem is i have to buy these parts. It could be a fairly long list at this point. I still am trying to find what some of these parts may be worth.
Example: i don't want to pay $75 for the power steering setup and find out i can't get $50 for it. I am a 67-72 guy, so i would just be helping out the 60-66 side of things.
Apology is accepted, just remember i don't own the parts and can't sell what i don't have...

Looks like its hold something up laying on its side...

Too bad you could buy the whole thing for cheap, then part it out...

No problem, but you're getting dangerously close to a "want-to-buy" here, which is for subscribing members, and not in this section of the forum. If and when "too much stuff" decides to re-sell any parts he'll start a new thread in the parts for sale section and you can respond there. But, right now I think he's just looking to see if there's interest here. (Kinda looks like there is )

Re: Rare junkyard burb pics.

Update: I pulled a few parts today on the limited time i had. Question: how do the small "custom" emblems next to the door come off? also, is the gauge cluster worth pulling if i make it back there?
i appreciate the advice so far. Eric

Re: Rare junkyard burb pics.

Are you referring to the long ones next to the upper portion of the door? If so there should be 2 screws holding them on.

As far as the dash I think it would depend on the condition and also how much they charge, some parts they reman but others not.

Thoughts anyone?

Id say the cluster is'nt. Dont expect anyone to pay over $30 for it. The emblems are held in place by clips. Should pop right out.

I know someone on the forums here is in need of the interior panels and rear window surrounds, can't remember who now.

I would kill for that roof and the A pillars- but I'm sure shipping to California would be difficult and expensive. I'll likely have to find one locally.

Re: Rare junkyard burb pics.

My suggestion is to purchase the entire rig. There are many desireable parts on it, all of which have value, if you purchase the truck for the right price. It appears to be a highly option GMC Suburban, including power brakes, auto, A/M radio, clamshell rear doors, etc. If it still has the factory front, 2nd row and 3rd row seats, they are worth more than what you can probably buy the entire truck for.

How does that pull out? Would it be the same as a 67-72?

I am too far in it to purchase the whole rig at this point.

Only a front seat in this one. The split style...
I will try to get back as time allows. Thanks again for all the help. Eric

If you can cut out the gas door, they make a nice conversion for pickups.
Did you pull the pws brackets and pulleys.

Re: Rare junkyard burb pics.

Not much left after yesterday.
Any ideas on value for the part that runs from inside the rear door to the back of the front door? The curved piece that goes from the roof onto the side? (interior) About 6" wide and 7 feet long approx.
I also got the ram-assist setup from under neath.
I got the linkage for the auto trans to the trans, but couldn't get the arms off the trans. How crucial are those?
Thanks for any more insight, Eric

Really not that old...
I grabbed the whole column and wheel. The wheel is not that nice. Eric

I put a few parts on e-bay. Try "1964 gmc suburban" and they should come up.
