small disagreement in our house

see i told my wife i was gonna get her this blazer so that i could get it, now that i talked her into restoring it she wants to leave it 4x4 and through some 35s on it with a lift i wanna do a 2wd conversion and do a mild custom, not cut it up just make some minor changes to add caracter. what is every1 elses opinion?

Leave it 4x4!

If the trend of converting 4x4's to 2wd goes on much longer, someday the 4x4's will be more rare and people wanting 4x4's will have to buy 2 wheelers to convert back!

I suspect you are a smart man having a weak moment.
I suspect no one on this board sleeps in your bed with you.
I suspect your wife does.
Who's opinion counts?

I like the looks of the 2WD's but my heart and my wifes heart belong on the 4WD's side!

The choice is so clear.....BUY ANOTHER BLAZER!

It all depends on how you plan to use it IMO.

So true.

Compromise. Go with 33s and a 4 inch lift.

You want to make minor changes to add character to a Blazer?

To me, that's like saying you're going to do plastic surgery to Marilyn Monroe to add sex appeal.

character may been bad choice of words, maybe subtle changes i think are neat and clean, we did compromise i get to make it a 2wd and she gets to make color and interior decisions

I'm with VT Blazer. I mean, it's your truck (or maybe it's your wife's) but I hate to see a 4X4 destroyed.

Re: small disagreement in our house

If you guys hate seeing 4wds destroyed send me a 2wd so I can lower mine I never use 4wd in it...

Re: small disagreement in our house

how hard is it to change over to 2wd if the 2wd front suspension is out of a 68 to 72 body truck? is it all a matter of taking the 4x4 stuff out and bolting in the 2wd stuff or is it more complicated than that?

Re: small disagreement in our house

looks like you are going to have to take one for the pink team and build it her way just remember if she's happy with her blazer then she will not be able to say anything about the one you build.... see where im going here just a thought!!!

gentry69 09-24-2009 07:46 PM

Re: small disagreement in our house

if i could afford to buy and build another blazer i would. she seen a couple 2wd on here she liked so she said a 2wd may not be to bad. but she gets to pick the paint. think she picked a prowler red and a cream top may not look to bad. a a second note she always has somethin to say about every car we build

vtblazer 11-24-2009 07:41 AM

Re: small disagreement in our house

How's that build going?

4wd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course everything I own is 4x4 so i'm a little biased.

Re: small disagreement in our house

All personal preference. Also depends on what your final intentions with the truck will be. And that's where the decision for 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive is made,,,for us anyway.

I personally wouldn't bother with a conversion, and just look for and purchase which ever style you decide. Much less headache in the end.

Our personal preference is 4x4. Have to have something to get around the snow in, as well as tinker around up in the mountains. Arizona is full of cool trails and old abandoned mining towns. Most of which you won't be accessing in a 2 wheel drive ;) We have muscle cars when cruising on the blacktop is desired

I agree with your wife 120%! If you have a cool old chevy that is 4x4 and you want to convert it to 2wd?!:crazy:

I think the 2wd blazers are cool but sacrifice a 4x4 blazer?! I guess it's just a no brainer in my book because I live in the mountains and I've always wanted a 67-72 4x4 of some kind. I'd rather my truck be a 4x4 any day!

As in...get rid of a blazer all together or to find the one you really want?

Hopefully the latter of the two.
