I should be getting a new sport bumper in a few weeks and will be making my own brackets, and would like to see where there positioned and how close I will be able to tuck it to the body

I used an older one on my 85, I just like them better. I tucked it a little tighter than the frame holes put it originally. I like it better closer, and could probably go a little closer yet.

No problems opening your tail gate ?& did you use both inner & outer brackets or just one like some of the members have.

Sorry, wrong choice of wording I guess. :D I moved the holes forward, not up. So there would be no interference with the tailgate in any way.

Re: sport bumper pics

Flaming that looks good, did you tuck it closer to the body and your tailgate still opens? what are you going to use for the tag mount? i wish i had more of these trucks sitting in junkyards around here but miami sucks for finding old parts. Anyone have another way i can mount my tag? I hate when i have to buy stuff like that when people just got them thrown around.

flamingbig10 01-31-2010 11:53 AM

Re: sport bumper pics

its tucked, the tail gate opens just fine, for the tag I'll use L shaped brackets for now

Can't you just use your truck outer brackets on the suburban/blazer bumpers? Cause I'm thinking about snagging up a suburban bumper next week....and I don't want to have to buy new brackets or fabricate my own

Yes... and you really dont need the inners... I had my installed without inner brackets for over 5yrs. I installed dummy bolts.

Can you put a hidden hitch behind it and use something on the plate to fold it down to access the reciever inlet?
