'76 Chevy C-10 Build
Well I bought this truck at my first job "Summer 2009" it cost 1,400. I am 18 and I decided I really wanted this truck, Oh and it is my first vehicle lol.
So it's a 1976 C-10 1/2ton with 350/350. In the beginning when I first bought this truck it was stock height with a lumber rack and tool box, was the guys work truck. This truck had little to no rust in it at all! "On back of bed rail next to cab is rusted and passenger side fender is rusted in the lower quarter panel" What I have done to this truck so far is, rebuilt the front end of the truck with all new balljoints and urethane bushings. lowered the truck with a Bell-tech rear end flip kit. I have bought a new passenger side door from LMC and a passenger side fender used in good condition. I will show my progress within this thread as I build my dream truck! |

Well congrats and welcome to the forum. Looks like your off to a good start. I love that body style

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I am working on it now, I am sanding down the tail gate. Just wish it didn't look like it would rain on me. |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
I've got a question, My truck loves to drift of to the right when driving, I had my wheels aligned but that only helped a little bit, I think it might be the crappy tires I have on the truck, "Tires are very bad" So I was just wondering what you guys think might be the problem?
Thanks. |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Work from today.
Before working on tailgate http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...100_3883-1.jpg During. http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...2/100_3884.jpg Where I stopped for the day. http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...2/100_3885.jpg Here is were the fender is currently. Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Anyone got any ideas for paint for this body style?
Lets hear them :) |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
did you get it aligned before or after the rear drop?
Man those round light trucks look good two tone with trim and white roofs. |

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
The truck looks good & solid. Stance looks right too. It's got some good "patina" going on there. ;) These trucks can pull off about any color. What do YOU like? After all, YOU have to see it everyday.

Also, blue is out of the question, Don't want to copy my dad lol. He is painting his 57 chevy candy blue. I was just more interested in a unique color that is one off. |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
what are you using to sand it?
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
DA sander, and I think 80 grit paper.
the bed was in the same condition the cab was in before I primered it lol. |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
It looks like you are making really good progress. As far as color goes, it kinda looks good in the green. Maybe paint it a rally green (similar to the last paintjob, the brighter one. Rally green is a 69 Camaro color, and looks killer with white). It will be unique, and not in a bad way.

Also does anyone know the lug pattern of my truck? I am confused on it currently *1976 C-10 1/2ton with 350 SBC 2wd* |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
5 on 5
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Its just 5 on 5? its not 3/4 or any?
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
nope, just 5 on 5. Pass. car is 5 on 4.75.
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Ok thanks lol, I was confused about the patterns.
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
truck doesnt look to bad man. On the filler work did you just fill it or weld a plate over it? also is your frame c notched or what?
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Great job so far on that build mate. I can so see that 90's burb front clip on it. It's your build, have fun with it!
|
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
great start! I say you keep it green. Interior is already green, why fight it? btw, nice rear... that rear bumper is S-T-R-A-I-G-H-T!

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
well, the pic hide the dent well. i see the chipping chrome. I had a '76 the same color. I painted it lime green. it was my first attempt at bodywork, so my dad recommended a very light color to hide the blemishes. I wish I had a digital camera back then, or I'd post pics

Any tips for body work? even though my father is very skilled at it, he is busy with other things :( |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Ah, I see you've been hit by the green goblin as well.. My truck has EVERYTHING green, from the outside, to the seat, door panels, carpet, plastics, seat belts.. UGH..
Truck is a great start, subscribing... :) |

Well that will all change. plan on having custom paint job done by a friend *Yay* and gray interior. xD And thank you! it would be done a lot faster if it wasn't raining and the 57 didn't take up the garaged.... Also I need a daily drive besides relying on this. |

Yet again I feel your pain, it's been raining here a LOT, and the caddy is in the garage. My poor truck is in the driveway with a goofy camper shell on it and a tarp hahaha. I do have 3 daily drivers tho.. so at least I don't have to worry about that part of it. |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

Ahh lol well the camper protects your chassis right? Ah well I really wanted to get a 90's burb 4x4 and lift it for my daily driver. xD |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build
Quote:
Haha.. actually it does.. but there is already a TON of surface rust on my backhalf.. FML.. oh well.. it'll come off easy.. Burb's are sweet.. I needed something lifted so I finally bought a lifted truck.. I'm likin it so far. |

Ah well wire wheel will get it all off xD Yeah I do have the 2006 F-350....but it is so problematic that its not worth it, so its for sell for 30,000 |
Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

Wire wheel will def do the truck :) ..Key word: FORD, (Here's your sign) lol.. Good luck selling it :) |
