Re: Mexican Chevy Truck

Huh...that's weird. So are those 67-72 tails and 73-87(91) rear dually fender clearance lights?

WTH is going on with that tailgate? Not supposed to be flat...no bueno.

i use to see these trucks alot in the 80's here in El Paso, tx
Now they seem to be scarce
My friend races it now and carshows.
He is going to restore the bed now.

Re: Mexican Chevy Truck

Their actually taken to mexico and made like that. They also do Ferd Lobos instead of Ferd F-150. All the emblems are different and actually pretty cool. They also do a or did a Dodge Charger. Which was a truck with a built in camper kinda like a tahoe. Its actually a real nice ride.

Re: Mexican Chevy Truck

this is a Mexican version produced by "Camiones Dina". dina engine, was manufactured in the platform of the Cheyenne 73-87. for me it is really ugly that bed

The name DINA stands for Diesel Nacional, a company owned by the Mexican government. Diesel Nacional not only builds trucks, but automobiles, buses, & tractors as well. The company recently purchased a 60 per cent interest in Motores Perkins, a manufacturer of diesel engines. This move gave DINA a virtual monoply of diesel engine manufacturing in Mexico.

DINA began manufacturing trucks in the late 1950's at a new factory in Ciudad Sahagun. The original DINA trucks used a body based on the American Diamond T truck. In addition to this model, many new models have been introduced in the past few years. Until recently, DINA has concentrated their commercial efforts in the line of heavy duty trucks and buses. In the field of buses, they control 65 per. cent of the Mexican market. Their heavy duty trucks account for almost 50 per cent of the Mexican market.

In 1975 DINA entered the fast growing market for smaller pickup trucks. These new pickup trucks were introduced as 1000 and 3000 models, based on International designs. The 1000 model was a 1 ton model, and the 3000 model was capable of carrying 3 tons. These new pickups became extremely popular in a short time. Many luxury options were available to dress up the pickup line. The new DINA 1000 & 3000 series are built in the northern city of Monterrey; they converted the bankrupt Borgward car factory for the exclusive production of the 1000-3000 series. This factory had been vacant since 1971, although it was only three years old at that time. DINA also received the contract to build all of Mexico City's new buses. These buses are totally designed and built by DINA and are ultra modern by current standards. DINA also received a contract to build subway cars 'for Mexico City's modern "Metro". All in all, DINA has expanded rapidly and continues to take a large share of the commercial vehicle market. Being government owned, they receive favorable treatment from all sectors of business.

I've seen these around SoCal many times. Not all that uncommon in our area from LA to San Diego areas. Typically driven up from BAJA.

Is that a split rim on the front of that white 3500? ^ and i notice the 80's trucks have the old 70s fuel filler cap.

Re: Mexican Chevy Truck

Did anyone notice that they are labeled C15, C20 and C35 instead of the regular Chevy C10, C20 and C30. Also notice the brown short box has 5 lug wheels and is labled a Cheyenne 20.

Weird things occur in Mexico. There is a 2005 or so Dodge 2500 here in town that is a regular cab short bed 5-lug truck. I know for a fact the truck is from Mexico.

Re: Mexican Chevy Truck

some of this truck are dead beaten in mexico,, but you guys would be surprise how many excellent shape trucks are down there, because most peeps dont have/make enough to buy a new truck so they really take care of what day have, my uncle has a chevy "apache" other then the faded original paint, the truck runs smooth and excellent on the original engine.. I might try to take him a "newer" 90's truck and trade him for it. actually I already tried and he said for me to keep my Sh*t lol.

by the way fer, everytime I see a post from you, i remember the barbacoa tacos from the mercado:ito:

Re: Mexican Chevy Truck

Nope,,,this particular model didnt have the custom seat. It has the bench, but has the tilt steering.
My friend did update the seat belts thou

Id like to get ahold of a bed like this too, covert the taillights and tail gate.
But too many projects, maybe later, later
But from what i hear there are some decent truck beds across the border in Juarez, but right now with the violence forget about it

I still see one or two of those a year roll through town on I-25. Odd looking beds that is for sure. The body lines didn’t line up or flow very well.

Think those are odd…check out these Brazilian square body’s. The outer skin looks a like an over grown S-10 or a late 80’s Ford F-series. You can find pictures of these on the Brazilian ebay site all the time.
