So today i took a drive down to summit to get some stuff to install in the coming week or so.
DJM flip kit and an electric fan controller sorry for the bad phone pic. i already have some belltech lowering springs that my cousin gave me so those will go on too! |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Good looking truck man, I'm partial to the white myself. So are you reusing the factory FI on your 383?

Truck looks good man. Looking forward to following your progress on it. Also congrats on finishing high school. It's all down hill from here. |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah for right now im using my factory FI but later i want to get the ram jet intake. The engine has a LOT more in it but is held down by the gas flow.
But i got the engine for 1500 bucks from an engine guy that built my camaro's engine so i couldn't turn it down and i helped him get an engine off his hands that someone didn't have the money to pay for Yeah i love living so close to summit i mean its like 30 mins its awesome and they have most every part in stock i only had to get my cold air intake shipped to me Finally someone actually posted on my build thread i was wondering if it would ever happen ohh yeah and im static dropping my truck for now due to money the whole reason i ever lowered my truck was because i got the lowering spindles for FREE and the shackles were maybe 40 I am so ready to start lowering my truck!! |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah once you lower one it's hard to go back. You always want to go lower.
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah my girlfriends got a 97 gmc that we lifted up for her.
I gotta say i like both. Also does anyone on here run a GMPP Ramjet Intake on an obs? Oh yeah everyone i got a RAISE im making 7.50 instead of 7.25 heck yes! i need to find me a better paying job so i can work on my truck more. |

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Looks good man! I'm really digging that antenna attachment. :D
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
So did your truck have foglights from the factory, or did you add 'em?
Also, uhhm....soo.....what's up with the mudflaps? |

Ditto..... |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I flipped the picture so it would look better on my phone and
I noticed that after thought it was cool. The mudflaps were on when I got it from my dad. I kinda like them. |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah your truck looks good. Only things I'd do is lose the mud flaps, window vents, factory trim, and those "old man" looking chrome bed rail bar things. Those look really strange with having a tonneau cover.
EDIT: I didn't notice until just now....are those antennas in the back?? |

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
yeah i have antenas cause i have a cb in my truck.
I have a camaro we use to tow and we would go with a big group to car shows so we would talk to each other through that. Back when i was younger. I think im gonna mini tub the front cause my tires rub so i wanna lower it more so i will be able too. |

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Yeah i kinda do too, guess thats why i keep putting off taking off the molding cause i dont know if i will like it off or not?
Yeah i don't really wanna bag my truck, i just want a really low static drop on it with helper bags so i can still tow a trailer every now and then |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I've always been the same way about the factory molding on my trucks. Then after I finally break down and remove it, I love it.
I just removed all the molding from my 2 door, and it looks so much cleaner now. |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
truck is eghh. the chick is bangin! i do like the drop alot though. its cool to see a truck without 40" super swampers from the east coast.

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Well, the one thing you are going to find building vehicles is that everyone has an opinion:fry:....the only one that matters though is your own because you are the one paying for it so if you like window vents and mudflaps, go for it!!!
I like mudflaps and will put them on mine too once complete as it keeps my box panels from getting chipped and rusted...so that makes sense to me. Besides, it didn't stop you from getting a hot girlfriend so what does it matter in the end??? :canada: |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
So I have descided to take off the moldings and I have taken
my bed cover off but it will go back on. I'm looking for a wt front and rear bumper to paint white but would that be too much? I am gonna do the led lights in the dash. Maybe hIDs in the future I want some opinions on tinting the tails and third I don't know if it would look good I like the red too so give me some opinions |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I've never liked tinted or blacked out tail/head lights on white vehicles. It's just too contrasting. This is just my opinion though.
I think a painted front a rear bumper on your truck would look nice. I always love color matched trucks. |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
so i took off the moldings my dad used an eraser wheel while i just used a plastic thing he got the better end of the deal, my girlfriend helped too!

Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
So me and my dad were talking should I paint my mirrors white
I need to paint them too many rock nicks in them? I think it may not look good I have only seen one so far with white handles and mirrors and that was just to much it needs some contrast. I am getting my windows tinted legal 32 I don't like it being that light but my parents are doing it anyways should I get a strip across the windshield? Any pictures would be wonderful |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
No tips on stripping the windshield but it looks 10 times better with all the stuff stripped off!
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
Nice man, looks so much cleaner without the molding :metal:
Regarding the window tint, I vote "not" stripping the front wind shield. Either tint the whole thing, or nothing at all. Those strips across the front look weird to me. Just go with like a very light 50% smoke on the whole front. It'll keep your truck cooler inside, plus keep more UV rays out. My 1995 GMC Sierra was a clone to your truck. I painted all the mirrors, door handles, and front grill. I thought it looked clean with everything color matched. |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
I vote in favor of the windshield strip. I think mine has helped protect my dash and keep the cabin cooler, at least a little. But mine is really dark, too.
|
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
The only bad thing about taking the moldings off is the dents
on it can be seen a lot better ugh. I guess I need a paint job even better ha does anyone now the number for the led light for the dash that you can replace the regular ones with? |
Re: My 98 DD ongoing project
So an update of what I have coming.
This weekend I am putting in my bolt in notch finally. I am on the list to get a scan table tune from blackbear performance. I also bought tubular upper control arms from Dallas hotrod parts. I will buy the lower arms later the uppers are on sale now. |
